iceland genome project

Around the millenium, there was a lot of excitement concerning the Icelandic Genome project, an attempt to excplore genetic diversity and its importance for medical and pharmaceutical concerns using the combined medical, genealogical, and genetic data of the Icelanders (Curr. Biol. (2001), 11, R1).

Somehow, the whole thing went pear-shaped since then. Here's my update:
