Also, in today's issue of Current Biology, I have a piece on DIAMOND, the new synchrotron facility near Oxford, which is due to start business at the beginning of 2007. Essentially, it's an electron accelerator built for the sole purpose of harvesting the very bright X-ray beams that spin off when electrons travel around in circles at very high energies, and it is used for structural analyses in a range of research disciplines from materials science through to biochemistry.
