The chronicle of the village of Stockum-Pueschen includes a story about an immigration.
In 1909 Karl Baldus from Pueschen immigrated to the United States. He was the son of the family of August Baldus. He settled to the village of Swissdale, Pennsylvania.
There is no information known about his wife or other family members who did also immigrate together with him.
Karl was a very busy and inventive man. Within a period of just a few years, he earned enough money and was able to live pretty wealthy.
In May 1925 he and eight of his family members have been killed by a Mafia organization. Eight houses have been destroyed due to a bomb explosion.
Only one daughter named Helene survived very injured. Helene was ten years old when the tragedy happened to her family and neighbours. This fact shows she was born in the USA.
I don't know if Helene is still living today or if she probably had children.
I am interested to find out more about her and her parents. I didn't find any other information on the immigration of Karl, unfortunately. Does anybody know more about Karl, his siblings from Pueschen or his wife?
Any helpful hints are appreciated. Thank you!
