One of the most exciting (and difficult) opportunities that I had while I was in Honduras was the opportunity to play Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Honduras. Here is a photo of my initial meeting with the orchestra's music director Jorge Mejia. Maestro Mejia was born in Honduras, trained in Germany, and now has returned to Honduras to work as an educator and conductor. He operates a very active music conservatory and directs a busy season with the orchestra. He works very hard trying to improve the musical environment in Honduras and I hope that my activities there can help.

Jorge Mejia is also a fine composer and has shared with me two of his compositions, one for solo guitar, and the other a children's musical piece for guitar, harmonica, percussion and narrator. I am excited to have received some music from Maestro Mejia that I can perform and include in my project.
