Kent |
"Talk
Radio"

This is a part that Michael
also played in the theatre. Although the role if fairly short, it is
certainly memorable! Kent bounds into the studio a little like an
enthusiastic and uncontrollable golden retriever. He takes the whole show
as a joke, and the actual animosity and reality of the programme escapes
him completely, to Kent it's all an act. Michael also does the voice-overs
for other characters in the plot.

The call-in prankster Kent (Michael
Wincott) appears at the studio for the first time. He is brimming
over with excitement. |
 |
 |
Being on the radio is a real hoot
for Kent, who laughs hysterically for the first few minutes on air.
Barry Champlain (Eric Bogosian) soon regrets inviting him into
the studio. |
When asked if he wants to say
anything to anyone on the radio, Kent responds by screeching loudly down
the microphone, startling Barry and probably not doing much for the
producer's eardrums either! |
 |
 |
When Barry asks Kent a serious
question, the young rocker is stunned into silence as he tries to
comprehend a suitable answer. |
Recovering quickly from his
confusion, Kent launches once more into a barrage of giggles and raucous
laughter, banging out a beat on the console and screeching to a heavy
metal song. |
 |
 |
Kent says he wants a model like
the rock stars have then makes reference to Barry's producer who he
considers
is a 'fine lookin' babe'. |
As Barry wipes the floor with an
unfortunate caller Kent laughs, thinking it all a great joke. The
underlying tension goes completely over his head. |
 |
 |
Kent takes part in the
discussions on the radio show. Again the unpleasantness of the scenario
is lost on Kent who can see no further than his rock 'n' roll
dream. |
Kent listens to the caller on the
radio before losing patience and screaming verbal abuse down the line at
the man. He is immediately thrown out of the studio, taking a quick
photo of Barry before he goes. |
