Notes for Marguerite-Madeleine Morisseau

Morisseau, Marguerite-Madeleine (c 1642-1707)
Daughter of Julien Morisseau and Anne Brelarcour, from theparish of Saint-Pierre of the city of Roye, region of Amiens in Picardie, France. She got married in Sillery (registered in Quebec) on Monday September 26, 1661, to Francois Pelletier dit Antaya, born around 1635, son of Nicholas Pelletier and Jeanne de Vouzy. Together they had 10 children. She was in Canada in 1661 and was married here. She lived in Silery and Sorel. She received the scapular of Mont-Carmel on August 15, 1665. November 5, 1675 she granted a plot of land 4 arpents in frontage in the domain of Dorviller to Antoine Cadde. She contracted to an obligation of 300 pounds toward Seraphin Margane de Lavaltne to aquit the inheretances of the late Francois Pelletier for a plot of land bought by the latter beyond Nigokatpagar, otherwise known as Portage-des-Sables and 100 pounds for a canoe. August 1, 1688, she enlisted Jean Bougerar and Francois Cottu as voyageurs. They promised to go out and find furs that the late Francois Pelletier had from the Ottawas and promised to bring them back to her in 1689. She committed to pay 450 pounds of this trip. On the return from their trip on July 27, 1689, they settled their accounts with "Marguerite Mariceau", Francois and Joseph Pelletier and with Charles de Couagne, from who they had borrowed 2112 pounds and 5 sols for the trip to the Ottawas, August 3, 1688. They returned that sum to Mister Couagne in beaver, and the last of their paments, to acquit Marguerite Mariceau the 450 pounds promised for this trip. November 27, 1706 she returned the sum of 40 pounds to the widow Lachambre, who was staying at the L'Hotel-Dieu in Quebec, to whom she owed a total of 80 pounds. She passed away at L'Hotel-Dieu in Quebec on December 15, 1707. On the register, it was listed that she was from Nogent in Picardie.
