Charles has the following obituary listed in the South Bend Tribune on April 30, 1939 in Section 4 p. 12.
Charles H. Chandonia - Charles Henry Chandonia, aged 77, of 620 West Marion street, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Granger, with whom he lived. A heart ailment caused his death. Born in South Bend Sept. 11, 1861, he lived his entire life here and was married in Bertrand, Michg., in 1880 to Nettie Hammer. She died in 1917. He leaves two other daughters, Mrs. J. E. Toward and Mrs. C. T. Smith, this city; three sons, William Chandonia, South Bend; John Mishawaka, and Clarence, San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Harriet Mikesell, South Bend; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the L. H. Orvis chapel this afternoon and until the funeral there at 2 P.M. Thuesday, Rev. T. M. Greenhoe, pasteor of Sunnyside Presbyterian church will officiate and burial will be in the city cemetery.
