Moisson, Nicolas (c. 1635-before October 14, 1696)
We are unsure of the relations and the geographic origin of this ancestor, who in 1661, wed Jeanne Vallee of parts and ancestry unknown. Together, they had 5 children. His surname leads us to believe that he came from Paris. The soldier from sir Lafredieres company arrived in Canada aboard the ship "l'Aigle d'er" ("Golden Eagle") on August 17, 1665. He obtained, from the Sulpiciers on March 26, 1667, a land concession of 60 arpends in surface area, along the river Saint-Pierre. He sold 40 punds to Andre Rapin dit Le Musette, by contract from the Notary Basset on December 4, 1667. He sold this land to Jean Millot on August 12, 1669, for the price of 200 pounds. The following October 10, Rene Cuillerier sold him a piece of land 45 arpents in surface area along the River Saint-Pierre, and Sault Saint-Louis, in return for 250 bushels of corn and 50 bushels of peas. He continued after that to speculate in land. This being the cause, on June 23, 1670, he sold a piece of land 3 arpents of frontage at La Pecardiere in the domain of Contrecoeur, to Jean Tessier for the price of 40 pounds, land obtained by concession from the Lord of Contrecoeur. The following June 30, Simon Guillroy sold him a 60 arpent piece of land at Lachine, with a cabin made of posts where there was all of the building wood necessary for a house 23 feet by 18 feet. He agreed to pay 900 pounds for it all. The following August 10, he sold that for the same price to Mathurin Thibodeau who committed to pay that sum in his name to Simon Guillroy. Also in return for 12 bushels of corn, on January 5, 1676, he sold a 60 arpent area of land at Lachine, acquired by concession from the Sulpiciers. The follwoing February 17, Raymond Boisreau sold him a 40 arpent piece of land at Lachine on the condition that he cut down 2 arpnets of woods on the land for the seller. On May 31, Mathurin Thibodeau annulled the contract of sale passed on the preceeding January 5. He contracted an obligation of 46 pounds to Jean Aubuchon on September 26, 1680. At the beginning of 1681, he owned a gun, a horned animal and 10 arpents of valuable land. He was qualified as a shoe-cobbler. November 10, 1683, Nicolas Grainier, who owed him 58 pounds, 13 sols and 4 deriers, promised to give back in his name to Pierre Dubau the sum of 28 pounds, 13 sols and 4 deriers. The same day, he sent over to Pierre Dubau the sum of 43 pounds and 18 sols. We are unsure of the exact date of his death, but he was absent from Montreal when the contract of marriage of his daughter Marie-Madeline with Michel Brunet was signed on November 21, 1692, and was no longer with us when the marriage contract was signed between his daughter Marie and Francois Morel.
