Explains birthplace name of Therese Meloche: "Captain Dalyell persuaded Major Gladwin, (commander of the fort at Detroit), to permit him to lead an attack upon the Ottawa village. Forewarned by cooperating Frenchmen in the fort, Pontiac lay in wait for Captain Dalyell's troops, ambushing them at Parent's Creek. The British troops were forced to retreat, suffering the loss of fifty-eight officers and men either killed or wounded. Since that day, the creek has been know as Bloody Run."
