Gertrude was known as "Baba". The 1900 census of St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota shows Gertrude Eckel living in the household of Michael and Margaret Fleissner. It lists that she was only married for one year, had only one child, and that child is still alive in 1900 (Margaret). It says that she and her parents were born in Austria. She immigrated to the USA in 1871. She cannot read or write but can speak English.
