Sorry,
sorry, sorry – I just hope, that there is no-one who urgently needs to hear
something about „American foreign affairs“. Another coeval – England’s
Tony Blair – was faster than America and Mr. Schröder together. I stay in
England these days and last Friday (July 26, 2002) the front page of the tabloid
„The Mirror“ attracted my attention. Tony Blair gave one of his public
interviews to the British Press answering their questions. Since June this year
these conferences are held quite regularly according to a certain schedule. The
front page of “The Mirror” showed a bright Tony Blair and the headline „If
we didn’t sell arms to Israel, someone else would do.“
Wow,
nice little statement! With consideration of the question „Did the
‚Mirror‘ quote Mr Blair correctly?“ several thoughts ran through my head.
Let‘s assume the „Mirror“ quoted Mr. Blair correctly and however, finally
this is what people will see/read and keep in their minds, I asked myself: „Can
one top this cynicism?“ This man belongs – as far as I remember – to a
Party called „Labour Party“. This sounds similar to „Labourer’s
Party“, doesn’t it? I guess, if Old Marx had heard that, he would have
turned in his grave!
May
I interpret Mr. Blair’s statement like this:
„If we didn’t kill the Palestinians, someone else would.“ or maybe like
this „If we help the Palestinians with our negotiations for peace, we also
have to do something for Israel.“ or maybe even better „If Israel get arms,
then rather the good British ones.“
Well, I guess this is just one example out of hundreds. But since I didn’t buy
this newspaper it can still be possible that I just had a strange dream.
This
morning the internet confirmed that I hadn’t dreamed. Fortunately there are
apparently some more people who didn’t really like that statement (Link: http://www.mirror.co.uk/mailbox/mailbox/page.cfm?objectid=12071955&method=full
)
A
reader said: “… I am now going to go
shoplifting in my local shopping centre. My defence? ‘If I didn't steal it,
someone else would.’ Acceptable, Mr Blair? …”
Since
I’ve probably been dreaming all the time and the world around me is
plain-talking, it is therefore quite understandable, that I get some e-mails
with the hint „That’s the way it is.“ or „You have to accept the facts.“
On the one hand these may be people who are worried about my mental and physical
health (by the way, I’m doing very well J).
On the other hand there must be this common feeling of faint and lethargy which
has crept into people’s minds. It is normal, that a „Labour(er’s) Party“
justifies export of arms into conflict areas. It is normal, that an originally
pacifistic Party (the German Green Party) agreed to military actions abroad
twice within three years being in the government for the first time in the
Party’s history. It is normal that one has to accept some things which are „actually
if you look at them closely, theoretically, strictly speaking, after all, maybe“
in fact very cynical, inhuman, contradicting any logical thinking and sick.
Admittedly
I am yet quite „young and inexperienced“. But for all of that I have lived
in two different social systems (East & West – and for me it was an
advantage!) and I have seen & experienced several countries in East &
West to know one thing (and I mean to KNOW, not
only to THINK): That this all is NOT NORMAL anymore!
Since
I got back to the „Media“, let me add some remarks. Everyone who has thought
about the topic „Television“, may have noticed one thing: More and more
people confuse the image of the reality with the „real, true reality“ (see
also Mail 2 – Signal processing). More and more people get their education out
of the television set assuming that TV is reflecting themselves or at least the
reality (often utilised in commercials). Subconsciously and also consciously (or
better deliberately) the habits and attitudes of million of people are being
influenced and changed – resulting in a copy of the copy of the copy of the
copy … in the end, stereotypes. We “proud individualists” are more or less
the same after the 5th copy.
Those who can somewhat keep their brains working, notice sometime, that they are
not themselves anymore. Most of them start with the well-known “Search for
themselves”. 50 % of the population (I hope they are less) have most probably
never even heard of such a search, I guess. The other 50 % (more or less) are in
the dark, finding themselves one day, losing themselves the next day, running
around a bit confused and work till they will get retired. Beside of that we all
get overweight (as I said, I stay in England right now – I know what I mean
with that). We rely on chemical medicine (because it cures fast ?!). We rather
buy artificially produced foods (because it is cheaper?!?) and even think
sometimes that fruit and vegetables are “too healthy” etc. etc.
The
optimisation of the formula “Time is Money” we then call: “Developed
civilised world”.
Olala,
long live the Evolution!
I guess, even the monkeys were beyond that.
Some
of you may ask themselves now, where the connection between „September 11th“
and the Evolution is. Good question – short answer:
For myself „September 11th“ resp. its consequences were/are
another step in my personal development – for human mankind (which is affected
– whether they want or not) it was another step in its Evolution. And I think
it was a huge one – but maybe this is just a „scary story“?!?!
Some of you wrote back that in the end of the day everyone has to decide for
herself/himself, what he believes and what not. As right as rain – and this
should remain like that. Everyone decides for herself/himself in which direction
she/he will go in „her/his own Evolution“. There are just two options –
forwards or backwards.
I
would like to wish you a nice, sunny day. Yours, Michael.
PS:
You can also forward this e-mail to people you know – I don’t mind that at
all.
