            11. Uppon readinge the Petition of the present Church wardens and overseers of the Poore of Taunton St, James against Emanuel Micoe and Nicholas Standfast who beinge overseers for the poore in 1645: neglectd the poore and refuse to give in their Accompts touching theire said office; The two next Justices of to call the said Micoe and Standfast before them and to cause them to accompt herein.

 

            ( NB   Phillimore's Somerset Parish Registers   St. Mary Magdalen,  Taunton, Marriages. ------------ between entries 17 June 1647 and 10 March 1649 " Heare weare many lefte out in those times because I knew not of Their marriages and soe formerly by reason of the wares, and Emanuell Meco being Clarke when Sir John Stowell had the toowne both for Christnings and Burialls soe yt the beginning of the wares until yt the act was set out concerning christnings, wedding and burialls this was much neglected."

           

            [ Under the heading "Christings" in1643 is a note that many were left out by reason of the wars when Manuell Mecho was clerk. The burials were not entered in 1643, 1650  and 1651 because no bell was rung nor notice given ])

 

            27.  Upon  readinge of the petition of  Emanuell  Micoe of Taunton St James thereby shewing that James Kevill  als  Templer of Taunton James aforesaid doth keepe a Common Bakehowse there havinge noe convenient place to putt his fewell in and that he putteth it parte in his dwellinge howse and parte in the court neere to the dwellinge howse of the Petitioner and others to the great feare of the petitioners and others of greate damage which may fall by fire, the said Kevill als Templer beinge a distempered and ill liveinge man; the matter referred to the two next justices of the peace to Taunton, to call the said Kevill als Templer before them, to examine the matter of the said Petition and to do therein as the cause shall require.
