OMFG! And yes, that stands completely for oh, my fucking god. That was the most intense, beautifully done peice of show I've ever been to. Anissa says that it was one of her best, although MXPX was the best show she's been to. That was a couple years ago. The feelings around me were so awesome. When the band mingled, drew energy from the crowd, and gave much loved back, I was at a loss for words. The only thing I could do with all that energy was sweat, breathe (barely), and sing along to the lullabies. I was entranced. I'll never be able to look at any show the same... I'll always compare it to this last one I went to.
Here's how it went.
The first band to play was like Pistolitas or something retarded like that, from NY. They were okay. but the crowd really wanted BN out there... obviously. Then the second band played--from Mississippi. Uh, all i have to say for them is, good job, but LMFAO. The music was OK, but it did NOT go with BN's uh, charisma and uh, style AT ALL. Wrong crowd, in other words. AND WHAT THE FRICK? A FRICKIN' TAMBOURINE AND A HARMONICA? If we wanted a hill billy show, we would have asked for one... lol. Sorry guys, you reminded me way too much of uh, Cold play. And cold play DOES NOT go with Brand New. If you like Cold Play, well, i'll get the name of that band... it had somoething to do with colors of something or whatever.
Anyway, during the time between the bands, I was in the second row with Anissa, Kyla in the very front. This girl next to us said that she HAD been to another concert when I asked her, but by this time, she'd been pulled, willingly out of the pit. She couldn't handle it--she really had NEVER been to a show like this one. (Lol.)
The entire crowd was pushing against us, and I was pushing right back. No crowd was going to out do me, Rika Suave. And by the end of the night, I was still pumped and ready for more.
The minute the band came out, so many screams and yells escaped the undulating crowd. "I love you"s, "I wanna have your BABIES!" came from some young men, but overall, just the ear-peircing, adrenaline rushing sound of screams. The entire crowd waved back and forth. I had to keep my feet on the ground. I wouldn't let the thousands of feet overpower my own. Feet covered in sweat, socks and chuck taylors, vans or skate shoes.
The first song played, but it was one less familiar to me, since I did not have either of their CDs. But I still moved to the beat, soaking in the sounds sinking deep into my heart's core. I could feel it so well.
The crowd was getting so roudy. Pushing to try to get a placement in the front. Sweat and fresh cooling liquid was flying in every direction imaginable. I gasped when the cool water hit my neck and shoulders from behind. They began to play the next song after the thralls of applause.
The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows.
The crowd went balistic, and the moving turned more and more into a wave, and a mosh pit behind us. Not that many could move so much as an inch, just that they were definately trying hard.
Since everyone was getting tired, exhaused from the already used and sweated air, the lead singer decided to go on with a more mellow song that didn't attract violent movements and pushes. A break. People around me used their cell phones just to see above the people and catch a glimpse of the band. Too many heads blocked the view in the back.
The night wore on, I needed some water, but I dared not lose my place in the crowd and lose sight of Anissa and Kyla. I clutched onto Anissa's hand, since the crowd had begun to throw us around more, and our footing was a little less weak.
I know I'm way too protective, but these were my friends. I used most of my energy pushing back against the crowd so that Anissa and Kyla could breathe. I even made sure people around me were okay... I needed to make sure everyone was safe, but especially my two friends who brought me. It was only halfway through the band, and already people around me were rushing to get out of there... overwhelmed and tired. When one person was pulled out, five other people rushed to take their place, and I became more crowded. More crushed with every song.
A boy named Tyler beside me (who wasn't too hard to look at) made sure I was fine, and I told him to keep an eye on Anissa while I took a break on the pushing and let the crowd envelop my movements.
He moved his arm around us so we wouldn't get lost in the rush. I thank him immeasurably. Even though he did make his way closer to the front than I did.
When only three more songs were left to play, and my voice begun to fail me, Anissa said she didn't care how far back we fell. She was exhausted from trying to keep our place. And so was I. In a rush of moving bodies, we were swept back into the crowd easily, grasping onto each other's hands to keep from losing eachother.
Just when we were about to leave to take a break from the rest of the crowd, the lights slowed, dimmed, became a shimmering undulation over the crowd. Silence over took the entire building.
"I LOVE YOU!" came from the crowd from a female voice. Cheers rang, and whistles soared through the tensed air. I smiled, hung my head back and listened to the silence that followed. An unnerving silence...
"BRAND NEW FUCKIN' ROCKS!" a male voice echoed, sending the crowd into yet another tizzy of cheering.
Once quiet, the song began. Play Crack the Sky. Anissa swooned. She loved the song, and we stood in our place between the finally calm bodies.
The vocals were played by both the singer and the crowd. Tears rolled down my cheeks from the intensity of the song, and all the energy that was emitting through out the entire room.
The last song that played was so intense and fun, I rocked out the hardest, since I knew it was the last.
When it was all over, I was still so pumped. I ran in circles, triangles and squares around anissa, kyla, and kyla's mom. Such fun; such fun, except that I was soaked in sweat and spit, and whatever else was flying around that frickin' room.
