Anne is an attractive, hard-working single mother who works at the Feathers
Hotel in Midsomer Newton. She has two sons, bright and feisty Philip, aged
10, and awkward adolescent Danny, aged 14.
Barbara Flux - Anita Carey
Barbara is middle-aged and amply proportioned. She taught home economics
before taking early retirement and throwing herself into the life of her
adopted village. With her husband Lesley, she is a self-appointed heritage
expert and amateur author.
Lesley Flux - Gawn Grainger
Lesley taught geography at the same school as his wife before retiring. Like
Barbara, his enthusiasm for organising is matched only by his talent for
irritating his new neighbours in Midsomer Newton.
Harriet Davis - Rebecca Egan
Dry-eyed and ambitious, Harriet has worked hard to establish her estate
agency as the most efficient and ruthless in an overcrowded market.
Gerry Moore - David Westhead
Self-employed builder Gerry has a job in every village and a woman in every
job. He enjoys a good time with Anne Merrick but Harriet Davis is out of his
league.
Charlie Magwood - George Baker
Charlie is the son of market traders and was evacuated to Midsomer during
the war with his brother Jack. He missed the East End and was glad to return
home.
Jack Magwood - George Baker
Jack thrived when he was evacuated to Midsomer as a lad, studying hard and
learning the piano. But his talents were thwarted by his suffocating family
back in London.
Giles Cato - Michael Elwyn
Giles is the curator of Midsomer Museum. His devotion to the preservation of
the area's heritage is matched by a mean-spirited pursuit of his own
self-interest.
Grace Woodhall - Andree Evans
Now in her 70s, Grace was a former classmate of the Magwood brothers at
Midsomer Newton Primary School. She lives near Winyard and is loyal to her
friends.
Caroline Cave - Caroline Faber
Metropolitan, moneyed and professional, Caroline knows what she wants and
intends to get it.
Peter Cave - Richard Trinder
Caroline's enthusiastic husband Peter works in the city but longs for the
simple life.
