Episode 47: Scene Two
Jade eyed Marlo suspiciously. Marlo had been glancing over at their table for the past few minutes, and it was infuriating her, because she knew who she was looking at: Kendall. Jade shifted uncomfortably and turned back to Kendall.
"Ken, let's go sit with Karen and Chantal. They've got some empty seats at their table."
Kendall, muching on a hamburger, merely grunted. After finishing off the burger in three bites, he looked up at Jade. "You can go and sit over there if you want. I have some history I have to finish up."
Jade let out an exasperated breath. "Why can't you ever do your homework at home? They should change it to lunchwork just for you, ya know. I'm going to go sit by Karen and Chantal."
Kendall stared at Jade, waiting for her to get up and leave. When she didn't he asked, "Well...what's keeping you? I thought you wanted to go sit over there."
Jade glanced over at Marlo, who was still staring at Kendall. "I want you to come sit with us too! Just come on, Kendall."
"Why do you need me to go with you?"
"Kendall, I'm not going to ask you again."
"I'm staying here."
"No you're not."
"Yes I am."
"No you're not."
"Who's going to make me?"
Jade narrowed her eyes. "Me." Getting up, she grabbed Kendall by the elbow and pulled him up out of his chair. Jade could turn WWF on people if the situation called for it.
Just as he began walking, Kendall glanced over at Marlo. His face lighted up when she smiled at her. She smiled innocently back. "Hey, babe, I'm gonna go say hi to Marlo. I'll be right back."
"Kendall, no!" Jade tightened her grip. "You're not going over there!"
"Why not?"
"Because...I said so. Look, lunch is almost over, and if you go over there you won't have time to sit with us."
Kendall broke away from Jade's grip. Brushing himself off as if Jade had dirtied him up, he said, "Marlo's new. She needs help getting around and I want to see if she's doing okay. Is it a crime to be polite?"
"Yeah, when the da** girl's after you," Jade said under her breath.
"What was that?"
Jade straightened up. "I said she's finishing her ham and grill sandwich."
"Well, she looks lonely. I'm sure she'll enjoy my company. We'd be honored if you'd sit with us as well."
When Hell freezes over, Jade thought. "No, I'm going to sit with my girls. I'll see you later."
Kendall planted a kiss on Jade's cheek. "See ya, Baby Cheeks."
