Episode 48: Scene Two
Francesca shifted uneasily in the hard wooden chair. It was uncomfortable, but that wasn't the reason that Francesca was uneasy. Her eyes darted nervously from one side of the establishment to the other. She saw Jax wiping off the counters. Please, Jax. Don't mention to Allan that I've been here with...with him.
When the waiter came over to her, Francesca hastily ordered a Diet Coke. Setting her small black purse on the table, Francesca reviewed the phone call that she'd made earlier in the day.
"Yes it is. When can I see you, my sweet?"
Francesca had rolled her eyes. "Please cut out the corniness, Amante. I need to meet with you about something important."
"Oh? What is that?"
"Meet me at Jax's around three-thirty. Don't be late!" Francesca's head snapped towards the doorway as she came back to reality. The brown-skinned boy was in the doorway. His dark eyes searched the hangout for his "love." She waved her hand slightly to indicate her position. He smiled and headed her way.
Francesca patted down her hair, which was sleeked back professionally into a french twist. She realized it was rather "adult-ish" and "old-fashioned," but she didn't care. Francesca had long since given up caring what other people thought of her. Her top priority was to save her relationship with Allan. She flashed a brief smile at Amante.
"Hello, Amante. I'm glad you came," she said crisply. Francesca secretly debated with herself as to whether she should be professional or casual towards Amante. She looked him in the eye.
"You knew I would, Francesca," Amante responded, his voice low and seductive. "Your wish is my command."
Francesca rolled her eyes and sat back in her chair. Her eyes became serious and her lips pursed. "I am not in the mood, Amante. I am trying to be serious, and you have to be too!"
Amante frowned. "What is it that requires so much seriousness, Francesca?"
Francesca couldn't look Amante in the eye anymore. What she was about to ask him was about to tear her heart in two, but she knew that she had to ask it of him or else her relationship with Allan would no longer exist.
"Amante, is that you?"
