Episode 48: Scene Five

Shannon shielded her face from the bright sun as she left the school building. She decided not to take a walk with everyone else heading down to Jax's or heading to the beach. She wasn't in the mood for conversation.

"Shannon! Darling, I've been looking all over for you," an annoying voice came from behind Shannon.

Shannon, knowing the person behind the voice, began walking away. "Go away."

Marlo quickly caught up to Shannon and stood in front of her. "Oh, no. We have so much to talk about. Besides, I have to catch you up on the latest."

"The latest news about Kendall and me!"

Shannon's jaw dropped. "Kendall Washington? You have got to be kidding me. Why would he even give you a second glance?"

"Because," Marlo cleared her throat, "I'm a poor new girl who can't seem to find any of her classes," she said in a molasses-toned voice.

"Oh my God. You are a piece of work, and I'm not talking PT Cruiser-like work either. You're sick, that's what you are."

"Well if it isn't the pot calling the kettle black. Last time I checked, you were nothing but a psychotic druggie attacking an innocent bystander who happened to get in your way," Marlo's voice went sour. "You'd better do a reality check, girlfriend. I am the only one who can get you out of this mess, so you'd better wise up."

"Who in the he** do you think you are? I do not take orders from you nor will I ever. I am sick of your poor attempts at trying to blackmail me. It ain't gonna work!"

"Oh yes it will, Shannon. You are going to help me win over Kendall Washington or you will be sent to the detention center until you're eighteen and then you will spend the rest of your life in prison!"

"I hardly think so. Now if you'll excuse me, I actually have a life beyond chasing after a boy who will never love me, unlike some people, so I need to go," Shannon pushed Marlo out of the way and began walking towards the dorms.

"I'll let you go now, Shannon, but soon you're going to realize just how much you're going to do for me! And I will pull out all the stops to get you to do it, do you hear me? DO YOU HEAR ME?" Marlo screeched.
