Episode 49: Scene Three
Cliff eyed Kim in worry. She hadn't shown any signs of waking up since the time she had arrived in the hospital, and it was causing Cliff to seriously question the possibility of Kim ever waking up. He didn't want her to die because he knew it would be all on him. Technically, it was his sister's fault, but he felt that he played an equal role in the whole mess.
Turning to Trace, his eyes immediately grew three shades darker. Though he wouldn't dare say it aloud, he loathed the unruly crop of brown hair, the love-filled eyes, and the arrogant attitude. All Cliff wanted to do was help Kim in any way possible, but Trace was preventing him from doing so. Cliff wasn't used to allowing anyone to stand in his way, and he certainly wasn't going to start now.
Cliff's cell phone vibrated in the pocket of his crisp khaki dockers. Quickly putting his hand on it to calm the vibrations, he stepped into another long white corridor. Flipping the small phone open, he greeted, "Hello. Cliff Walsh speaking."
"Hello, Cliff," a deep voice growled into his ear.
The hardened look in Cliff's eye quickly disappeared. After checking to see if anyone was around, he spoke quietly into the receiver, "Hello, Father. Is there something you need?"
"Yes. I need to know why in the he** you're sitting in a hospital when you should be here!"
"I can't leave now, Father! I'm partially responsible for this girl being in the state she's in; I can't just leave her now! All morals aside, do you know how bad it would reflect upon us?"
A silence settled upon the receiver. Then, "You have five minutes to get down here, Cliff. We have things to take care of, son. Important things."
