Episode 54: Scene Two
Gemini let out a relieved breath as she sat down in a cushioned chair. She'd been on her feet for almost an hour, and her dogs were killing her. The poor girl was too tired to even get herself a cup of punch. As if on cue, a cup suddenly appeared in front of her face with a hand attatched to it. She looked up the arm to the rather apathetic face hovering over her. The site of the face quickly soured Gemini's own.
"I just thought I'd come over to apologize if I seemed a bit too...harsh earlier," Barrett Anderson made a weak attempt to make up for his earlier conversation with Gemini and her friends.
Gemini quickly slapped the hand away from her face, then placed her own on the ground.
Barrett eyed her suspiciously. "What are you doing?"
Gemini shook her head and returned her hand to her lap. "No, Hell hasn't frozen over yet, so why would you think I want to talk to you?"
"Haha, very funny," Barrett took a seat beside Gemini, who quickly scooted hers away from him. "Look, you can't keep avoiding me."
"Like heck I can't! I'm not going to be wrapped up into your twisted little mindset, Ferrett."
"It's Barrett."
"Whatever," Gemini spat. "You and your father are scum, and I don't deal with scum, understood?"
"I'd like to know where this is coming from. What have I ever done to you?"
"It's not about what you've done to me, it's about what you did to one of my friends. You don't mess with my friends. When you mess with my friends, you mess with me."
"Leave those ridiculous clichès behind and listen to me."
"Why should I waste one second of my precious time on you, hmm? You see, you may be able to take advantage of other people, but I'm not going to be one of them. You and your father are going to have to find other prey, because this mouse ain't about to be eatin' by a snake like you."
"Your metaphorical language only shows your weakness," Barrett's voice suddenly became chilled. His gray eyes took on their darkened tone that made Gemini edgy and uncomfortable. "If you won't listen to reason, then just understand that you'd better not get in the way of my father, or myself for that matter. We don't like nuisances."
"Like I should give a d*mn about what you like!" Gemini sprang to her feet, her eyes flashing and her fists clenched. "You and your father can take your uppity attitudes and shove them up your-"
"BARRETT!" a deep voice boomed from behind the two before Gemini could get the naughty word out. "Leave her alone!"
Barrett turned around to face the interruptor. His lips parted into a haughty smile. "Well, well, well. Look what the cat decided to drag in this morning."
