Episode 55: Scene Three
"So, when are you guys planning on heading back to the Academy?" Tanner ventured to ask, popping a piece of licorice into his mouth. "I was thinking we should do it soon, with all of this Beach Blast stuff coming up."
"Actually, I was thinking about staying here for the carnival. I'm interested in seeing this Miss Midway contest they're supposed to be having," Jade responded, taking a sip of her cola.
Kendall looked at her with unbelieving eyes. "Now wait, just a little while ago you were preaching to me about how we shouldn't get attatched to MP and we should get out of here ASAP."
"Oh, Kendall, that was ages ago. Sure, some of the people here are still real butts about us, but there are some cool people as well. Besides, I've heard so much about this contest that I want to see what's so special about it."
"Since when has Jade Callaway given a whit about some stupid beauty pageant where girls parade around like total bimbos? Come on, Jade, you know you could out-smile, out-flaunt, outshow, and outsmart any girl on this campus. You don't need some ridiculous contest to tell you that," Kendall said in irritation. He wanted to return to their old school soon so that he could visit with old friends.
"I hate to say it," Savannah managed to cast a glare in Kendall's direction, "but I have to agree with Kendall. What's the point in watching some girls with absolutely no self-respect walk out onto a platform wearing barely anything except for two threads sewn together? It's pointless."
"Come on, Sav. I need you to back me on this one. Besides, you might actually meet someone there, if you know what I mean," Jade nudged her friend innocently, taking another sip of her drink. "Don't you think it's about time that you do?"
"No!" Savannah replied with such ferocity that Jade nearly choked on her drink. "All of the boys here are scum, Jade. They're nothing but low-life trash who're looking for nothing but an easy girl that they can lay."
"Savannah!" Jade exclaimed.
"It's true! I've seen them and I've heard what they say. They're nothing but pigs, Jade. Actually, I wouldn't even want to insult pigs by calling them that!" Savannah folded her arms and sat back sharply in her seat with a huff.
"Okay, so it seems as if we have some issues as to when we're going to go back," Tanner broke in. "Whadya say we stay for the carnival and the contest, and then head over to the Academy. Does that sound good?"
"I'm all for it," Jade said, a rather agitated edge entering her tone. She couldn't see why Kendall and Savannah were being so snotty about the whole situation, and was rather angry that they'd taken the attitude they had.
"Whatever you want, babe," Kendall answered right after her.
Savannah looked around at the three, all of whom were looking straight at her. She finally pursed her lips and said, "Fine, but don't think I'm going to like staying here. Every day I stay here is a day that I wish I were anywhere but here."
