Episode Fifty-Six
"Chloe, is something wrong?" Brent's voice was rather uncertain as he took a rather uneasy seat by the rather agitated young woman. "I don't like the tone of your voice."
"Too bad, deal with it," Chloe's response can quick and curt. Her eyes had since narrowed upon Brent with such fury that he leaned back as if to brace for an explosion.
"Look, I don't know what's wrong, but why don't we just talk about it so that we can sort things out."
"No, we aren't going to do any talking! I'm running the show here, Brent, so you'd better shut up and listen up!" she snapped fiercely, her hazel eyes sparking with intense rage. "I think it's about time you close your mouth long enough to listen to what someone else has to say."
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't play stupid with me, Brent. You may be a lot of things, and rest assured that you are, but you are not dumb."
"Chloe..." Meredith's voice interrupted gently.
Chloe put a hand up to silence her friend. "Stay out of this, Meredith. This is between me and him."
"Why don't you just say what's on your mind and get it over with?" Brent said, impatience beginning to filter into his voice.
"Fine, you want me to say something, I will. I think you are a low-life piece of garbage for what you do to innocent girls in this school. I find it appalling how you just use and then toss aside girls, yet you seem to find no fault whatsoever in whatever you do. I think you need to deflate your head long enough to see that you are not a god and that you are just as human as the rest of us!"
"I don't know where you're getting this from, but you need to stop right now!" Brent growled, his fists clenching involuntarily.
"I will not stop until I'm finished! You know, if you would have asked me a couple of months ago, I would have never believed you were capable of being such a malicious jerk, but ohhh," Chloe let out a harsh chuckle before continuing, "I see that I was so wrong!"
"That is a lie, and you know it! I would never intentionally hurt anyone!"
"Bull!" Chloe spat right back at him. "You would and you have."
Brent folded his arms in front of his chest and stared Chloe straight in the eye. "And just which one of your friends has come to you with these stupid rumors this time?"
"It's not one of my friends, Brent," Chloe's voice gradually got quieter as her steady gaze finally faltered.
"Then who is it, hmm?"
"It's..."
"Chloe, you don't have to-" Meredith began.
"It's me, Brent," Chloe's confession could barely be heard, her old fears temporarily returning to damper her strength.
Brent's arms fell limply to his side, his eyes wide and full of disbelief. "You? You like me?"
"Liked," Chloe's eyes quickly met back up with Brent's, making a point to acknowledge the past tense. "I liked you when I thought you were the kindest, most caring boy here, but now I see that you're no different than any of these other pigs. You had my heart in your hands and you just threw it away, and I'm not going to let you get away with that."
Eve felt herself pushed back to the wall by an invisible force. She had been coming back from the restroom when she heard Chloe and Brent in a heated discussion. Eve had stopped before rounding the corner that separated them, and had managed to catch her last couple of sentences. The thought of such an idea had sent her straight up against the wall.
"So she's been after him this entire time. God, how many problems are Brent and I are going to have? But," Eve gasped as she raised a weak hand to her lips, "what if he likes her back? Oh dear lord, please don't let our relationship turn out to be a lie. Please don't let Brent love Chloe."
-Shannon agreed to help Marlo in her quest to win Kendall over
-Chloe expressed her anger towards Brent to Meredith
