Episode 62: Scene Two
Shannon's eyes scanned the small, rectangular white paper. She barely had time to look at her schedule before she was herded along with another group of freshmen throughout the school building. She ducked underneath an arch formed by the arms of PALS and other spirit squad members. Everyone was yelling and screaming at one another trying to find their schedule.
Shannon spotted Mel lingering in the middle of the commons area, so she high-tailed it as fast as she could in her thick platforms. "Mel! Give me your schedule pronto!"
Mel handed it over without a fight, for he too was eager to find out who was in what classes with him.
Shannon's eyes lighted up as she recognized some of her classes in Mel's schedule! "This is too cool! We have pre-AP geometry, pre-AP biology, and pre-AP English together!"
"Yes!" Mel high-fived Shannon before retrieving his schedule from her. "I knew if I prayed hard enough I'd end up in classes with people I knew."
Chloe, Gemini, Christian, and Kate ran over to them and began shoving their schedules in each other's faces. After everyone saw what classes they were in with everyone else, they managed to settle down into a state of semi-sanity.
"Well, people, it's been nice knowing you. Seeing how I have barely any classes with you, I guess I won't be seeing you as much," Chloe said sadly, crumpling her schedule up in her fist.
Kate hugged Chloe sympathetically. "Keep hope alive, girl. We still have tennis together."
Chloe nodded, but refused to be pulled out of her sulky state. "True. But I'm in pre-AP Algebra II! My gosh, I'm gonna die!"
"Yeah, well, I'm gonna die in pre-AP bio, for your info. I've heard that class is like taking a butcher knife and chopping your fingers off one by one," Shannon rolled her eyes and put her hand on her hip. "I'm so gonna do bad this year."
"Cheer up, y'all," Mel urged. "We'll have plenty of time to make the adjustment. Right now, however, we have to go get pictures, check our registration cards, tour the building, and do the hundred-and-one other things they told us we're doing today."
"You're right. Girls, let's start the tour. I want to find out exactly where everything is before I really start to realize what I've done to myself by signing up for the classes I did," Gemini grabbed hold of Chloe and Shannon's hands, who grabbed Kate's hand, who grabbed a just-entering Chantal and Becca's hand.
Mel and Christian looked at each other for a moment and then busted out laughing. "Let's go find Zach and the other guys. It's picture time!"
