Episode 62: Scene Three
Karen, Tanner, Kendall, Jade, Savannah, and Marlo moved forward in the extremely long picture long. The six were becoming increasingly frustrated with the slow pace and last-minute fashion adjustments that were being made by some of the girls.
"Okay, who cares if one strand of hair is sticking out of the top of your hand? It's one freakin' strand of hair!" Kendall griped, leaning back against the wall.
"That is such a guy statement," Jade spat, folding her arms.
"A guy statement? Is this some Jade-ism I've never heard before?" Kendall teased.
"Grow up," Jade grumbled, then squirmed as Kendall wrapped his arms around her waist. "What are you doing? Didn't you hear the assistant principal just say no, and I quote, public displays of affection?"
"Aw, babe. You know I couldn't resist," Kendall laughed, moving to plant a kiss on her cheek.
Jade moved her face out of range, but couldn't help smiling. "Why do you make me crazy?"
"Because I'm just irresistable," Kendall growled, then hugged her tighter.
"Okay, you two. You can go get a room whenever you feel like it," Karen teased. "In the meantime, could someone please tell me if I've gotten all the frizzies out of my hair?"
"Yeah, it looks fine," Tanner replied to her request, but he wasn't smiling. He hadn't even wanted to come to Fish Camp, but Karen had managed to convince Kendall to convince Tanner to come despite everything that was going on. Despite himself, Tanner was actually enjoying the chaotic atmosphere of the orientation. It was a nice change from the dark, solemn atmosphere that he'd been trapped in for days.
"Thanks."
"I still can't believe we got in bio together, Kendall," Marlo cooed, making her way closer to him.
Jade stood between her boyfriend and the other girl. "Just call it a freak error made by the computer."
Marlo laughed sarcastically at Jade before turning her attentions back to Kendall. "I wonder if it'll be as hard as some people have made it out to be."
"I don't know. I've heard the teacher's pretty rough," Kendall said. "But I'm pretty sure we'll make it through the course. It can't be that hard."
"You're right," Marlo smiled up into his eyes.
Jade stared daggers into the back of Marlo's head. She cleared her throat and smiled her not-so-sweetest smile. "Well, it's not a course for the feeble-minded, Marlo. I'm not so sure if it's the class for you."
Though the sarcastic words heated up Marlo's temper, she chose to ignore her remain calm to look better in Kendall's eyes. "I can't wait until the first day."
"Yeah, I'm sure you can't," Jade said under her breath.
Karen nudged Jade sharply. "Be nice," she warned.
"How can I be nice to that little-"
"The line's moving up," Savannah, who had remained silent since they had arrived to pick up their schedules, informed everyone softly. "If we hurry up and get through with the pictures, we'll probably have enough time to look around the school and then hang out before the dance."
"Vannah's right. Kendall, Tanner, go show the world just how handsome you can look when you try," Jade pushed the two boys towards the two photographers. "Make sure they get your good side, if they can find out which one it is!"
