Cedar Point

Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio is the Mecca of Amusement Parks.  Cedar Point is constantly winning awards for it's atmosphere  and rides.  The greatest thrill rides on earth are found here including Millennium Force, the second tallest roller coaster on earth.

The view when you first enter.  From left to right it is Raptor, Power Tower, Demon Drop, Space Spiral, Giant Wheel, Disaster Transport, and Wicked Twister.

This Is the Magnum XL-200, built by Arrow Dynamics in 1989 and is the world's first hyper coaster.  It stands 205 feet tall and has a drop of 194 feet.  Magnum also runs along the side of Lake Erie which makes it a even better ride.  See those 3 towers in behind the Magnum?  That's the new S&S Power creation called Vertigo.  It used to have cables to launch you up 270 feet in the air, but one of the towers collapsed so it was taken down.

As you can see, Magnum's extras such as the trains were designed to be futuristic.  I just love those trains.

New for 2002 is Wicked Twister.  Wicked Twister was made by Intamin, it is a double twisting impulse coaster.  It launches back and fourth up 215 feet.

The back spike and the linear induction motors.  Too bad it was having electrical problems when I was there so I wasn't able to ride.  Better luck next year.

Mantis was built by Bollinger and Mabillard in 1996.  It is a huge stand up steel coaster which has a drop of 137 feet into a 119 foot vertical loop.  The ending consists of intense turns that immediately change direction.

The vertical loop and a lot of twisted track at the end.

This is a picture diving loop which is Mantis's second inversion.

Millennium Force was built in 2000 by Intamin.  It is 6,595 feet long, 310 feet tall, and a 300 foot drop.  It has a 80 degree drop which feels like you are vertical.  Those statistics pretty much explain itself.

This is the final banked turn on the Force which goes right over some of the line to get in the line.

The first drop in the background,  one of the over banked turns in the middle of the circuit, and the 180 foot camelback hill.

The over banked curve after the 300 foot drop.

The second over banked turn right along Cedar Creek.

The 180 and 100 foot hills located next to each other above Cedar Creek with Mantis and Power Tower in the back ground.

This is the suspended Iron Dragon, it was built by Arrow Dynamics 76 feet tall and has a 60 foot drop.  It is 2,800 feet long and has two chain lifts.

This is Corkscrew.  At some parts, it gets deceivingly close enough to give a high five to someone that's riding it.

This shows all the inversions of Corkscrew.  It was built by Arrow Dynamics in 1976 and is 2,050 feet long with a 65 foot drop.  It's legendary in that it was the first coaster to have corkscrews and a vertical loop.

This is the Mean Streak.  Built by Dinn & Summers in 1991, opened as the tallest wooden coaster on the planet at 161 feet tall and is 5,427 feet long.  It used to have airtime but breaks and time have gotten  rid of it's negative g's.

The first drop which is slowed down a lot after you hit the break at the top of the lift.  During the lift you get a spectacular view of the rest of the park and Lake Erie.

The curve after the first drop.  Mean Streak is known for it's roughness just like most of the Dinn and Summers big wooden coasters.

The Mean Streak is designed in a circular pattern which much of the ride you go though the supports of the taller sections of track.

On the third hill you zoom past the on ride camera.

Wildcat was built in 1979 by Anton Schwarzkopf and replaced a older model.  It is 50 feet tall and 1,837 feet long.

The Power Tower is a huge S&S creation.  You don't get airtime like the Double Shot, but the height alone makes it an awesome ride.

Gemini was built by Arrow Dynamics in 1978 and is a racing steel coaster which has a wooden structure.  It is a thrill for enthusiasts and younger children.

Gemini's first drop is 118 feet tall, and at the time it was built it was the tallest in the world.

Blue Streak is a fun out and back modeled wooden roller coaster.  Built by John Allen in 1964, it is 2,558 feet long with a 72 foot drop.  It's very noticeable with it's blue paintjob and the structure that's at the top of the first drop.

Raptor was built by Bollinger and Mabillard in 1996 and is my second favorite steel coaster.  My favorite element is the extreme cobra roll which flips you upside down twice in the opposite direction.

The beginning of Raptor is really intense.  After the first drop of 119 feet, it goes right into the vertical loop which is followed by the zero gravity roll which then goes into the cobra roll.

This picture shows the mid coarse break which goes into the spiral drop that then leads to a corkscrew.

You can see the heartline roll, the cobra roll, and one of the corkscrews all in this picture.

This shows Disaster Transport and Space Spiral.  Disaster Transport is an enclosed Bobsled coaster and it is a pretty short ride.   Space Spiral is a great ride to take a break for all the thrills at Cedar Point and get a great view of the park and Lake Erie.

This is the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.  It was built in 1969 by Arrow Dynamics and is 48 feet tall with a 2,540 foot circuit.

Millennium Force looming in the distance of the Mine Ride.

Woodstock's Express was built in 1999 by Vekoma.  It is 38 feet tall, 1,100 feet long, and a quiet lift that uses tires to lift riders up to the top.

Now with all my coaster pictures done, we are now at Troika.  It's my favorite flat ride at Cedar Point.  Made by Huss Rides, it has a great paintjob, and you can probably tell what it does.

This is the Snake River Falls ride which is a modern version of your classic shoot the chute ride.

I'm sure that all of you are familiar with the Scrambler.  If not, you are a poor poor soul.

Calypso is like the Scrambler except it is tilted.  It's even cooler looking at night.

The Wave Swinger is a classic swing attraction.

Matterhorn is the same thing as the Flying Bobs at Indiana Beach, except it's not operated backwards.

The Giant Wheel has a beautiful view of Lake Erie as well as the park.

This is Schwabinchen, yes I know it's hard to say.  I still don't know how to say it right.  Anyway, it's a great ride and it's one of those rides that you need to be on the inside of the car so that you don't get squished.

This is the final picture for Cedar Point, it's Ocean Motion and it's your average Viking ship ride.
