Baltimore River, MI

Creamy Peanut Butter Falls O-kun-de-kun Falls
"Creamy Peanut Butter Falls" (named for the fact that when this river runs, it is so thick with silt that the water looks almost the color of Peanut Butter) can be run almost anywhere. On the other hand, not far downstream lies O-kun-de-kun Falls, which mostly lands hard on rock, and most boaters will judiciously choose to portage.

typical sliding falls
The remainder of the run contains many sliding drops of varying height, length, steepness, and (thus) difficulty. Numerous areas contain undercut rocks and pinning potential more typical of eastern U.S. streams.
For a more complete description of this river, see American Whitewater.
