Union River, MI

sliding bedrock falls As described on PaddleGuides, the Union River (near Porcupine Mountain State Park) is an absolutely astonishing stretch of river. With its very small watershed and very steep gradient, it is very tough to catch it with the right amount of water to be runnable. I haven't yet, but I have been there a time or two to fantasize, so I'll share a bit of that fantasy with you here. Since I have not run it, I will not go into any particular detail about the run, but will rather let the photos speak for themselves. I believe the photos are relatively in a 'bottom-to-top-of-run' sequence, as we hiked up this amazing little river.
