We spent the next 3 weeks in Vermont. We lounged, ate, and smoked cigarettes. Almost daily, we would take a trip to the local store Hero's Welcome. We would harass the girl behind the counter, and waste money on things we had to have, like bumper stickers. When we ran out of food, we would ride down to South Hero (30kms or so) and buy the necessities, hot dogs, pancake mix, Kraft Dinner, bread, and pies.
After a week or so at the cottage, we became very bored, but we had no desire to leave yet, as it was still cold out. Glenn rang his aunt in Burlington, and she invited us for dinner one day. We decided that we could pedal (80 kms) down there, eat dinner, and then pedal back (+80 kms=160kms) in an afternoon. A contributing factor to our madness was that we had decided to quit smoking the day before. Non-smoking lasted until we made it to South Hero, where I snapped and threw my bike into traffic, ranting and spouting obscenities at anyone driving past. Glenn purchased cigarettes, and we stayed for a week at Mary-Ellen's place. Sanity had prevailed, temporarily. When we returned to the cottage we would try again to quit. This next attempt lasted 8 days before Glenn realised we might actually kill each other if we didn't smoke, and did the mature thing by buying cigarettes.

Mama, I'm coming home
