5. u can get various add on's from these sites (mentioned in (2)) like poll, guest book, chat room, stock quotes, news, weather etc (i'd also recommend a site called htmlgear.com)
6. If u want 2 create ur own gif images (pictures) or want to edit images then go 2 tripod.com - there u click add on's and can get an option called GIFWorks plus you can get 1000's of GIF images from yahoo! photogallery and from Image gallery in tripod, U can also use tools like Photoshop, paint etc.
7. If u want 2 improve the looks and feel of ur site and wants 2 know what u shouldn't do go 2 webpagesthatsuck.com. Sites like webhelp.com  hospitalweb.com, swappersandcollectors.com will help u further improve ur site. Or u can use (down load) the option 'Real Slide show" available in the add on's in tripod.com  to add streaming video 2 ur site.
8. 4 promoting ur site u can list ur site in various search engines like google (click directory), yahoo!, etc, U should list ur site in the directory of the website in which ur site is hosted in a appropriate category, For free listing of ur site u may seek the service of sites like addme.com etc, U can also use the invite option available in yahoo! 2 invite people u know
