Long, long ago, no one lived on the earth. Allah then decided to create man to worship Him and live on the earth. Of course, Allah said to the angels, "I am going to send my Khalifah (deputy or agent) to earth." The angels said, "will you send there someone who will shed blood, while we praise you and glorify you?" Allah said, "Surely I know what you do not know. "The angels were silent. Allah created Adam from clay and gave him the nicest shape. He then commanded the angels and the jinn to prostrate before Adam. The angels obeyed the command. 'Iblis refused to do sajdah and disobeyed Allah. 'Iblis. was a jinn. Allah asked, "Why did you not do sajdah?" 'Iblis replied, "I am better than him. You have made me from fire but made him from clay." Allah then said, "Get out of here. You are cursed. My curse is on you till the Day of Judgment." 'Iblis said that he will misguide Adam and his children. But, as you know, Allah has given man knowledge and guidance to know what is right and what is wrong. Allah then asked Adam to live in Al-Jannah (paradise). He had every thing to enjoy, but he was alone. So Allah created Hawwa as his wife. Now, Adam lived happily in Al-Jannah with her. Then Allah said to Adam," Live with your wife in Al-Jannah. Eat freely of what ever you like in here, but do not eat from that tree." Iblis tried hard to misguide Adam and Hawwa. At last he succeeded. As soon as they ate the fruit of that tree they became naked. They felt ashamed. They tried to cover themselves with leaves and tried to hide, but they could hide nowhere from Allah. Adam and Hawwa asked Allah's forgiveness and it was granted. They were then commanded by Allah to go down to earth and live there. Allah then sent guidance to Adam and he was made the first Prophet on earth.
