MOVIE REVIEW

This animation series, featuring the laziest cat in the whole   world, goes big screen for the first time. The movie centers on the life of Garfield, his daily routines, his friends (or enemies), and of course his owner/'bestfriend' Jon Arbuckle. The story starts off showing pictures of Garfield and Jon from the past to the present. From then on, Garfield's misadventures were shown. Jon reunites with his college crush who is now Garfield's vet (played by Jennifer Love-Hewitt). This lead to the first ever encounter of Garfield and Odie. Because of Odie's talents, a tv host named Happy Chapman (who desperately aims for fame), dognaps Odie for his show. Garfield, feeling responsible for Odie's disappearance, courageously forgets about his lasagna to rescue his pal. In the end, Garfield, with the aid of his new found friends, rescues Odie and they all live happily ever after.

CAST:

  • Breckin Meyer - Jon

  • Jennifer Love-Hewitt - Liz

  • Bill Murray - voice of Garfield

The movie is pretty entertaining, for kids that is. It had some funny moments here and there. The animation of Garfield is quite superb, but I think that is the only plus side to this movie. For me,  the highlight of the movie is when Garfied and Odie strut their stuff on the dance floor. In my opinion, this movie does not compare with the likes of Finding Nemo and Shrek in terms of entertainment quality.

Rating: **** (4/10)
