Death of Mrs. J. B. Moore

Mrs. J. B. Moore died at her home in this place on Tuesday afternoon after an extended illness.  While all here friends knew of her illness they did not realize how serious it was.  The sincerest sympathy is felt for Elder Moore and also the family.  For over fifty years Mr. and Mrs. Moore had been campanions thru days of joy and sorrow and all realize the loss that will be experienced by the Elder.   Mrs. Moore was a kind, sympathetic and motherly lady, whom all held in the highest esteem.

At the time of going to press the funeral arrangements had not been made, but by the wish of the deceased the funeral will be private.

Obituary

The late Mrs. (Rev.) J. B. Moore was born in Casinova, N. Y. and when a little girl her parents moved to Haldimand Township, Northumberland County.  It was here that she and Mr. Moore were married in 1868.  They came to Waterford in 1885 and remained here five years.  In 1907 the Elder gave up his pastorate in Delhi and they were once more welcomed to Waterford to reside.  Her parents were Henry and Elizabeth Greenwood.

Besides her husband one daughter and three sons survive.  They are Mrs.(Rev.) W. J. H. Brown, W. H. and Harry, of Toronto and Ambrose, of Detroit, all of whom attended the funeral except Ambrose, who was on a business trip south and the sad news reached him too late.  Others who attended the funeral were Mr. Moore's sister, Mrs. Mott, and son, Clarence, and Messrs. Dedee and Livingston, of Toronto, and Mrs. Ambrose Moore, of Detroit.

The service was conducted by Rev. J. D. MacLachlan, assisted by Elder Harris.

The text was John 14, 1-3, where sympathy, faith and vision, in the disciples' hour of darkness brought to them the light and comfort that they so sorely needed.  The warm touch, the Saviour's personality is still ours.  "Let not your heart be troubled".  Faith has still the solid Rock to build upon and the glittering turrets of the Holy City's palaces are still beckoning us to lift up our eyes.  The speaker hadn't known the deceased anyway intimately, but her face revealed a soul that was the home of high and noble thinking, a spirit confident and strong and a personality radiant with light that comes alone from constant dwelling in the "Light of the world".
