The death occurred at Grand Rapids, Michigan, of Mrs. William P. Lane, on May 4th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Weatherby.  Mrs. Lane was for many years a resident of Brownsville and vicinity.
Born on March 1st, 1828, she came to this community with her father, the late Brinton Payne Brown in 1840 from Five Stakes, near St. Thomas.  She was one of a large family, there being eight brothers and sisters, all of whom have predeceased her with the exception of Mr. B. M. Brown, of Brownsville.
The experiences of the early pioneers in clearing the land and building up a community such as is here today form an interesting page of history.  She was married in 1829 to William P. Lane who died on January 18th, 1893.  She is survived by the following members of her family:  Mrs. Green, of St. Thomas; Mrs. Weatherly, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. Reid, of Detroit; George M. Lane, of California.
The remains were brought to Brownsville and the funeral proceeded from the M.C.R. station to the Delmer cemetery.  Rev. C. C. Kaine conducted the services.
