BROWN, Gordon Arthur - At his residence, 262 Oriole Parkway, Toronto, on Monday, May 02, 1938, Gordon Arthur, beloved husband of Ethel Cumines, and father of Mrs. Aylmer Blackburn and Dr. Brock Brown, in his 64th year.

Funeral Service at Christ Church, Deer Park, corner of Heath and Yonge, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

GORDON BROWN PASSES AWAY

Provincial Auditor Had Been in Ontario Civil Service Forty Years


Forty years in the Civil Service of Ontario, Gordon Brown, Provincial Auditor, died Monday at the home of his son, Dr. Brock R. Brown, 262 Oriole Parkway.

Premier Hepburn yesterday ordered the Parliament Buildings' flag to be flown at half-mast out of respect for Mr. Brown and his outstanding service to the Province. He had been seriously ill for the past six months.

Born in Ingersoll, Ont., he received his education in the Ingersoll schools and Upper Canada College. Following a few years with the Imperial Bank, Mr. Brown entered the Ontario Civil Service in 1898. He was a member of Christ Church (Anglican), Deer Park, and also a member of the Canada Bowling Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel O. Cummins Brown; one daughter, Mrs. F. A. Blackburn, Toronto, and one son, Dr. Brock R. Brown; also two sisters, Mrs. Robert Ralfe, Toronto, and Mrs. A. F. Thompson, Strathroy.
