Death of W. A. Elliott

BY a wide circle of friends both in the town and throughout the County of Oxford the announcement of the death of Washington A. Elliott, which occurred Thursday night, was received with profound regret.

Mr. Elliott for the past ten or twelve years had been a resident of Ingersoll and merited the highest esteem of all with whom he came in contact.   For years he had not enjoyed good health, a fact that was not generally known because of the fact that he was able to be around the greater part of the time.   He maintained a cheerful and unassuming disposition and his friends will recall how hearty was his greeting and how bright his countenance under all circumstances.   He was a deacon of the Baptist church and in various ways gave assistance on behalf of moral reform work.   He was especially interested in prohibition and rendered assistance on behalf of the cause whenever possible.

The deceased was born at Mount Elgin, in which vicinity of Culloden and he was widely and favourably known throughout the township of Dereham.   The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon from the family residence, Oxford Street, to the Mount Elgin cemetery and was largely attended by many relatives and friends.   Impressive services were conducted by Rev. R. J. M. Perkins and Rev. Mr. Cunningham of Brownsville.   The pallbearers were Messrs. George Langford, T. R. Mayberry, James Mayberry, W. O. Edwards, B. C. Edwards, and H. E. Robinson.
