Across The Room

"J, you need to get out."

"This isn't healthy."

"Fuck him, he's a stupid buttmuncher."

Justin looked out at the sea of people and frowned. Too many people for his liking, at least tonight it was. The only place he wanted to be was in the arms of Kurt, the muscular, soothing arms of Kurt.

But no, he thought as his eyes narrowed at the drink before him. He was in a dingy club that was packed like a box of matches. Not somewhere he wanted to be but his numbskull friends had literally dragged him from the confines of his apartment where he was comfortably mourning and put him here.

"God." he sighed as he twirled his rum and coke, frowning as it swirled. "Dammit." He shook his head as he put his drink on the table and took a final seat. He didn't have to actually get up and dance. He was out, wasn't he? They had better appreciate that.

"Hey, I heard Musiq SoulChild was gonna be here..." An exaggerated whisper floated past Justin's ears and he looked over to the pair quickly, then to the entrance. All he saw was an entourage of people. None of them looking like Musiq.

He was about to look away with a sigh when his eyes slid over the crowd, settling on a thin brunette, a large grin covering his face as he sauntered in, a girl on his arm. Justin was rendered speechless as the man moved smoothly, his face bright as he looked from face to face. His eyes were hidden by the low brim of a 20's-esque hat and Justin felt himself duck to see if he could see the set.

When he found himself nearly on the floor from trying to see the young man who had wandered and probably gotten lost in the crowd, Justin scolded himself for being so hopeless. He was supposed to be upset over Kurt and here he was acting like a total freak over a man he didn't even know!

"J, um... you ok?"

Justin looked up to see his friend, Will looking at him with raised eyebrows. He looked to see himself leaning over the table.

"Oh... oh. Um, yeah. Fine. Just wanted to..." He looked around for a scape goat. "Gonna get another drink." He climbed off and slid past Will quick enough so that the older man couldn't ask questions.

He squeezed through the tight crowd, keeping his arms close to him, already having felt a few wandering hands so far. He had just gotten elbowed in the arm but he was almost there, just two more girls to pass and... and...

"Whoa, sorry there buddy."

A large smile and Justin gasped stepping back, bumping into a petite woman, not even turning to say his apologies.

"You ok?" the man asked, his arm slowly coming up to touch Justin's shoulder and he nodded quickly, stepping back again.

The man smiled a small one and he took his cue. "Alright, just making sure." He put a hand on his hat that was still covering his eyes and tipped it.

Justin didn't hide the smile that graced his lips and the man put his hands out.

"Ah, and we have a smile. Good to see you don't hate all people." He put his hand out. "Josh, and sorry about hitting you in the eye. Accident, totally."

Justin stared at it and slowly took it in his own, giving him a lazy, absent shake. He took his hand back once he felt himself gripping it tighter. He needed to shake himself from this daze.

"Well... alright." Josh said and tapped his jeans, lurching forward as someone pushed him from behind.

"Yeah." Justin said quietly and then looked to the bar, remembering about his drink. "Um, want a drink?"

"You paying?"

Justin noticed the devious smile on the brunette's lips and chuckled before walking through the crowd again, not surprised to see the man resurface next to him at the bar.

"Vodka tonic." Justin said, definitely trying to act cool and he looked at the other man with a twisted smile.

"Sex On The Beach." Josh sounded out the words carefully, making sure they rolled off the tongue the way he wanted them to, the way his companion wanted them to.

"Justin." Justin sputtered and then cursed the blush on his cheeks and nodded to the bartender, pulling out his wallet.

A hand stopped him. "I can pay." Josh stared at Justin from underneath the hat, and Justin cursed that he couldn't see the older man's eyes, the mere knowledge unnerving him. "Unless," the stranger continued. "You want to and I could, make it up to you later."

Justin swallowed loudly and Josh took off his hat, winking at the blonde. He shook his hair, locks of brown flying into place.

Justin put down the 10 dollars and the man smiled, taking his drink calmly.

"Thanks."

Justin was sure he was drooling as the man danced away with his drink in hand, moving beautifully in the crammed dance floor. He distantly noticed the man had just left him.

He looked down at his drink and sighed, noting the missing man by his side. His eyes narrowed as things dawned and he made his way to his friends who were trying to get into the VIP part. He was ready to go home.

"Damion!" he yelled, twisting in between a couple, trying to get his friend's attention. "Damion!!"

A tall man turned, his shiny eyes slithering over people, trying to pinpoint who was calling him.

Justin waved at him and he waved from him to come closer. Justin shook his head and pointed towards the exit and before his friend could complain he ducked and headed for the door quickly.

"Finally." he whispered to himself, a breeze hitting his flushed cheeks. He started walking towards the street, knowing he could have just called a cab but it was a breezy night and the stars were pretty.

"Leaving so early?"

Justin whipped around, surprised to hear that voice calling for him.

"Would you care?" he asked bitterly as he continued walking, stuffing his hands in his coat pockets.

Josh jogged after him. "Hey, you never let me say thank you."

Justin shook his head. "No offense, but I'm not in the mood."

Josh laughed and fell into step with the blonde. "You think I'm gonna give you a good blowjob just for a drink?"

Justin turned with a ghost of a smile and shook his head. "Good, huh?"

The brunette shrugged. "I've been told the best."

Justin laughed for the first time in weeks and then caught himself, straightening immediately.

"Its a good thing to be arrogant these days?"

Josh shrugged again and then stepped in front of Justin. "I never said I thought I gave good head."

Justin watched as the young man walked backwards and he had to reach out to stop him before he ran into a young woman cradling some groceries. He pushed him to the side, his smile gone now.

"Watch out." he warned and continued to walk briskly down the busy streets of Georgia.

"Aww, you care." Josh teased and Justin rolled his eyes, though they slipped to the young man seconds later.

"Why are you following me?"

"'Cause, if you hadn't noticed already, I really want to go home with you and since you have decided to walk, then hell, guess I'm walking too."

Justin stopped abruptly and the other man stepped ahead before turning around with a grin. He gave him a serious look and the man just laughed harder.

"I was just kidding, dude." he laughed and Justin relaxed internally but he kept a stern eye on the man in front of him.

"Really, why are you following me?"

Josh looked at him for a second longer before looking up to the sky. "Beautiful night, eh?"

"Ugh, learn games are for high school boys." Justin continued walking, shaking his head because he had let this man get to him.

"Wait, alright wait!"

"What the hell do you want?" Justin spat and didn't bother to look at the other.

Josh grinned. "Alright, I'll be honest. I think your cute, no, gorgeous and I want to get your number and maybe even some sex but that depends on you, no name."

Justin stopped, his jaw on the floor as he regarded the dark haired man with wide eyes.

"E-excuse me?" This was not what he needed. "Oh my... what the hell is wrong with you?! You don't go up to someone and-... what did you call me?"

Josh smiled. It was working. "No name."

Justin opened his mouth and then shook his head. "Justin. And anyway! You don't come on to a person like that! You want my number? Ask me politely."

"How would I go on doing that?"

Justin crossed his arms. "Well first you wouldn't call me no name! Find out my name. Ask me. Be like, ‘Name's Josh. Yours?' You don't have to be all suave and smooth but you can't come at me with, ‘Hey, no name, I wanna have sex with you because your cute.' Yeah I really wanna get with you now."

Josh hid his grin and nodded.

"And secondly, have some game. ‘Hey, I noticed you across the room and couldn't take my eyes off you, honestly. And ya know, maybe we could..'" Justin felt himself getting closer to the brunette, his eyes softening. "‘Talk over drinks, or coffee sometime.'"

"Hey, I noticed you from across the room and couldn't my eyes off you, honestly. And maybe we could talk, over coffee or something."

Justin opened his mouth to object and all that spilled out was a long chuckle as he blushed. He looked up with a smile and twinkling eyes. "Now that wasn't so hard was it?"

"Not at all." Josh looked around. "There's a Giorgio's over there. Its no coffee but they have bomb mixers, if that's ok with you."

Justin smiled and nodded, his cheeks still tinged pink as they walked towards the restaurant.

At the end of the night, when Justin stood in front of his door, the light fixture above him attracting all kinds of insects Josh smiled.

"So, since I was a good boy, do I get a good night kiss?"

Justin rolled his eyes. "Well, since you were so polite..." He leaned forward, grabbing the brunette's collar, giving him a mere brush of his lips. Josh, though, wanted more and held onto the blonde's neck, pressing against his mouth hard, angling his head again.

"Mmm." Justin moaned and as soon as he opened his mouth to let in that smooth tongue a figure from the corner of his eyes caught his attention. He pulled back and stared at Kurt with wide eyes.

"Oh... wow."

Josh looked from one to the other and sighed painfully, more than let down. He had thought this one was special.

"I should-"

"Justin?" Kurt interrupted him and stalked over to the two. He looked at the other man distastefully. "Who the hell is this?"

Justin opened his mouth, ready to apologize when something washed over him and he smirked. He turned, ignoring the other man's presence.

"Baby." He grabbed the brunette's hand, his other hand behind him blindly reaching for the door knob, twisting the door open. "Let's go inside, there's too many bugs out here."

Josh grinned at Kurt as he was pulled into the younger man's home, giving the dirty blonde a thumbs up sign, the door slamming in his face.

Josh leaned against the closed door, watching as Justin just all but ran towards the window.

"Ex-boyfriend?"

Justin shook his head still looking out the window. "Ex-fiancée. We were supposed to get married in 2 months."

Josh closed his mouth and bit his lip. "Damn, what are you doing out?"

Justin threw him a smile and leaned against the counter. "Stupid friends."

"Hey, his loss." Josh's grin was brilliant. "And plus, you would have never met me. Consider yourself lucky, my friend."

Justin laughed and hopped off, coming closer. "Oh yes, how do I enjoy drink grubs who follow me home and have no game whatsoever. Thank you lord, for this..." he looked down, his gaze resting on those crystal eyes. "For this blessing of a man." he ended with a huge grin.

Josh smiled. "Well, I never said I was all that but who would I be to not accept such gracious compliments. From a beautiful man at that."

Justin beamed and hardly noticed that they were as close as they were until their lips pressed against one another and his hands curled in nice chocolate brown locks, silently thanking his friend after all.
