Lifetimes

Justin comprehended four words.

JC. Shower. Fall. Dead.

He had fainted soon afterwards "dead" left his friend's mouth. He woke up, what he presumed, hours later with Chris by his side, his eyes bloodshot.

"Its gonna be ok." he kept repeating as he helped the blonde up, and it all came back too quickly. JC. Dead. JC. Dead. Not alive. Never again. He fainted for a second time and didn't wake up till night, Chris cuddled next to him on the bed, Joey in a large chair, Lance on the floor. He looked around, trying to pin point his boyfriend and he cried silently as the brunette was found missing from the bunch.

They had had an open casket funeral, against Justin's wishes and now the 3 other men of Nsync realized why. With JC lying peacefully in the coffin, his face pale, his cheeks pink, they all stumbled to their seats, the onset of tears almost too much to bear.

Justin sat back, distantly staring down the coffin, the body in it. His tears hadn't come and he was scared as to when the were going to show up.

When it was his turn to say his piece about JC, he walked slowly to the podium, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes. He had no idea what he was going to say. So he said the first thing that came to his mind.

"JC told me we were going to be lovers in every lifetime from now on til forever and I dismissed it as his stupid, corny writing. Some mushy stuff he was just trying out on me." He swallowed the lump in his throat. "I hope to God he was right." His cheeks were shiny with tears when he stepped down, not a dry eye in the church and Justin looked to the casket once more before closing his eyes, not opening them until it was time to bury the coffin.

He didn't cry when they were outside, dirt covering the remains of his boyfriend. He looked at the gravestone with wet eyes, they hadn't cleared up and nodded, knowing they would meet in other lives. They had to.

"Guess who just got into Georgetown with a full scholarship?!" A jubilant Jay asked the people sitting around the table, 6 pair of eyes looking at him with shocked happiness.

His mother was the first one to jump up. "Oh baby!" she cried as she grabbed her sons cheeks and planted one on his cheek, then on the other, her eyes glistening. "I'm so proud of you." she whispered as the whole table full of guests got up to congratulate the young man in his victory.

Now, months later he finished unpacking the last of his clothes, surveying the small but comfy room. It was no bigger than half of his last room but it was a single so he understood why it wasn't all that spacious.

"Alright." he grinned to himself, and looked over to his basketball, his smile getting wider as the fact that he was at Georgetown, playing basketball settled in again. "God." he beamed, and ran a hand through the curls he cursed regularly, moving to post the poster of Allen Iverson, the late great basketball player, up. He looked quickly towards his door seeing a person zoom by, followed by a group of men, all laughing loudly.

He sighed as he went to his desk, which he had set up with his parents earlier and started to shuffle things around, trying to ignore that being in a new place meant he had to start over socially also and he wasn't so talented at that as he wished he was.

"Ey! Rob stop- Ah!"

Jay looked towards his door quickly to see it shut and a wide eyed man pressed against it. A beautiful wide eyed man. A gorgeous, stunning, exquisite man.

With his black waves and his crystal eyes and his lean shape and pouty mouth and... Wow. Just... wow.

"Oh shit! Sorry, I know this is kinda- You're new to the building right? Yeah, of course and how does this look? Me coming in all of the sudden, you not even knowing who the hell I am and-"

"Who are you?"

The man stopped his rambling and then started laughing, Jay liking his pink cheeks. "Sorry, sorry. I'm Scott. Scott Jayces. Sorry about erm, intruding like that. I was getting away from my friends and I kinda found your room and-" he stopped and blushed again. "Sorry."

Jay laughed and shrugged. "Stop apologizing. It's cool." He turned back to his desk, hoping this Scott person couldn't see the stammering of his heart.

"Hey, whats your name?"

Jay turned around slowly. Was he actually inquiring about him? "Um, Jay."

Scott gave a smile. "Alright, Jay. Got a last name?"

"Woods."

"Oh shit! I know some Woods'. Do you know a girl named Amy?"

Jay smiled. "Yeah, that's my cousin actually. How do you know her?"

Scott jumped from the door and came over, his mouth open wide. "Dude, my cousin totally dated her! That's all he talked about for a good year... wow."

"Small world, eh?"

Scott nodded and then looked towards the closed door, knowing Rob would be looking for him but when he looked to the one in front of him, he couldn't help but want to stay.

"Well," Jay began. "You should go, for your friend and all. I'm sure we'll see each other around, ya know."

Scott smiled and nodded with bright eyes. "Yeah." he said and started on his way out, and then turned around. He raised his finger, opened his mouth ready to say something but he shook his head and continued on his way out, closing the door behind him.

Jay fell to the neatly made bed with a sigh, cursing his ability to already have a crush on a stranger. A straight one at that.

******

So he hadn't seen Jay for a week but that didn't mean the younger man didn't haunt Scott in the mean time. Every time he passed Chestire Hall he thought of going to see Jay, since he had memorized the boy's room number and everything but he didn't want to seem too eager.

Now here he was, whistling out side the building hoping to catch Jay and scolding himself for being so pathetic.

"Scott, right?"

Scott turned around quickly and opened his mouth to speak, ready to say something but all that came out was a hiccup and he bowed his head immediately. Jay chuckled beside him. "Hi."

Scott looked up and nodded. "Hey."

"Have you been out here long?"

Scott's brow furrowed. "Huh?"

The blonde shrugged. "I saw you out here earlier and I didn't know if you were waiting for someone so..."

Scott decided he liked it when Justin bit his lip like that. "So?"

"So I thought I'd come out and keep you company."

Speechless, Scott was in love. And he had to bite his lip from saying so.

"Um." Think on your toes, Scott. "Wanna go get something to eat with me?"

Jay gave him a half smile and nodded, getting up from the cold concrete steps. "Sure."

"Cool." He didn't think his smile could have been bigger.

They walked off to the Einstein's bagels at the corner of the campus.

Over coffee they learned about the other, realizing they both had a gift in music, though Scott was too shy to sing in front of Jay. "At least not yet." he had said with a smile.

"I'm holding you to that." Jay had smiled and Scott fell in love all over again.

They sat in a small booth, both looking at each other over the top of their coffee mugs.

Scott was the one to speak first. "This feels like deja vu. Just... being with you, I feel like I've been here before."

Jay giggled into his iced mochachino and shrugged, even though Scott had taken the words right out of his mouth.

The light chattering of others around them comforted them in a blanket of normalcy.

"I want to be your boyfriend." Jay said quickly, bowing his head when Scott sputtered his coffee. "Sorry, but I just couldn't keep-"

"I think I'd like that." Scott interrupted and Jay looked to him quickly, his face breaking out into a wide smile.

"Good." he replied.

Scott nodded. "Good." he repeated with a smile of his own.

And by the end of the night, when they returned to campus, they were holding hands.

"So, you'll have those papers by when?" Randall's supervisor, Mila questioned, her eyes trained on the numbers in front of her.

"Uh, by tomorrow morning. I still have the Merger's account to type up." he answered, twisting in his chair to look at her.

"OK, get that done. We have a new account, the Storingers'." She nodded and turned away, walking down the hall, leaving Randall to sigh in relief. He looked around him quickly and then picked up his phone dialing a familiar number.

"Hello, Chase Scott here-"

"Hey, lameass."

Chase smiled. "Hey, bitch. What are you doing calling? I thought you were supposed to be working."

Randall shrugged. "Mila went out to lunch, I think. I get off in an hour. Want me to come pick you up?"

"And do what? Unlike you, angel boy, I can't smile at my boss and suddenly have no work."

Randall smiled. "Ha, well I guess not everyone can be as charming as I am-"

"Or as well hung, might I add."

Randall narrowed his eyes with a smile. "Fuck you. I don't sleep with my co-workers... unlike some."

Chase raised his hands. "Hey! He came onto me, and plus I was shit faced. You can't blame me."

Randall stretched his legs. "Of course I can. So are you coming over or not?"

He heard Chase sigh and his grin broadened. "Well, I guess so since I have absolutely nothing else to do-"

"Yeah yeah yeah. I'll be over in 5 minutes. Be ready, I don't wanna face Calvin. He's scary."

"He likes you, ya know."

Randall rolled his eyes. "Do I know? Every time I walk by he cops a feel of my ass. Stupid fucker."

Chase smiled. "Aw, poor Randy. I'll protect you."

Randall turned off his computer. "Sure. Shit." He saw Mila walking towards his office again. "Gotta go, she's coming again. See ya."

Chase nodded. "Bye." he said hanging up, closing the folder in his lap, reaching for his cell phone.

Randall hung up, and smiled at the phone, grabbing his jacket. "I'm leaving early."

Mila raised an eyebrow. "You know I'd ask if you were going to see that lover boy but then I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to tell me details so I'll just stick to, ‘Ok, sweetie. Have a good evening and remember to finish those papers by tomorrow morning.'" she smiled and Randall grinned.

"That's my girl." he joked and then dashed out of his room, locking the door before walking quickly to the elevators. His foot tapped to a beat in his head and he hopped out of the elevator the minute the doors opened to the 25th floor. He walked down the long corridor, smiling as he passed a familiar face, waving to a woman who had waved first.

When he stopped in front of Chase's office he knocked gently before opening the door, his smiling spreading as he found Chase shrugging into his jacket. "Ready?"

Chase chuckled. "As I'll ever be. Where we going?"

Randall's face held a profane smile. "My place." he chuckled and Chase shook his head.

He locked his door on his way out also, sneaking looks to his friend and couldn't help the bout of deja vu that he got every so often when he was with Randall.

"So, where'd you meet him again?" Justin Randall's mother asked, filing her nails while her son talked about this new man he had met.

"You ‘member those auditions I went to a few weeks ago?" Justin replied, opening his grade book, and then his planning book, trying to see what he was going to teach for the next week of school.

His mother tisked on the line and Justin rolled his eyes. "Yes, I remember. So you met him there? So he wants to be a popstar too?"

"Mom, I didn't go there to be a ‘pop star'. What I wanna do is make music, alright?"

His mother's sigh was annoying. "But Justin-"

"No, we're not talking about this."

"Alright, alright, but-"

"Mom."

"So, what does this young Josh look like?"

Justin grinned beside himself. "Well, he has beautiful black hair, ugh, and these glass blue eyes that are just..."

"Perfect?"

Justin smiled. "Yeah."

His mother chuckled. "Sounds like my baby is head over heels."

That was one great thing about his mother. She had to be the most understanding and accepting woman out there, when it came to his sexuality that is.

"So, when are you bringing him home?" Justin's mother inquired, hoping to meet this boy.

Justin blushed. "I don't know, later sometime." He looked up to find Josh standing in the doorway of his apartment, a rose in hand. He waved him over and turned back to the phone. "Hey, mom. I gotta go... yeah, love you too. Bye."

Josh came over and pinched the younger man's cheeks, tossing the rose onto the desk. "I hope you know you're precious." Josh teased and Justin slapped away his hands.

"Shut up, freak." He turned back to his studies. He had a journalism test to write up for Tuesday. Josh wouldn't mind, he was sure.

"What are you doing?"

"Making up a test." Justin looked out the corner of his eye to his Josh lying on the bed, facing him. "You can watch TV or something."

They had become quick friends in the two weeks they had known each other.

Josh shook his head reached for a magazine at the end of Justin's bed. "You're working, don't wanna- Oh! What is this." he mumbled and Justin turned around to see him reading the Cosmopolitan a friend had given him.

"Read the ‘His G-spots, and how to use them devilishly' article." Justin winked and Josh blushed, chuckling.

"So," Josh continued to read and then book marked a page. "What are we doing today?"

Justin shrugged, and grabbed his highlighter, highlighting a particular sentence in a big textbook. "What do you want to do?"

"Well after this, I can think of a few things." Josh chuckled and Justin rolled his eyes, closing his book. He'd work later on, with out the distraction named Josh in the room.

He walked over and laid next to his friend, throwing a leg over his waist. "I'm tired. Let's just sleep."

Josh chuckled and rolled over Justin, lying on top, pinning the other man's wrists above his head. "You're such a baby. You, like, have to nap all the time."

Justin pouted but smiled a minute later. "Shut up. You try being a teacher. And plus you're the one who falls asleep the second your head hits... well, anything."

Josh smiled. "You try being a model."

Justin laughed and pinched Josh's wrist. "Oh yeah, that must be so hard, you little brat."

Josh smiled innocently. "I'm fragile, you know me." He leaned down, giving Justin a gentle kiss that was feather light and Justin smiled, his eyes closed.

"What was that for?"

Josh leaned down, and rolled to the side of Justin, throwing an arm around the blonde's waist.

"Goodnight kiss." he mumbled, closing his eyes also and Justin nodded, bringing an arm up to run along Josh's shoulder, his body asleep not less than a minute later but not before thinking about what a blessing it would be to spend eternity with this man.
