Part 2
"What the hell is he doing here? He's supposed to be in Virginia!" I hissed to Chris. He shrugged.
"Hello, is anyone…oh, hi." Justin stopped in his tracks as he saw mw, giving my new body an appreciative look. Then he noticed Chris. "Hey, Chris. Is JC here?"
"Well," Chris started, "funny you should ask that. JC…"
"Is in Maryland, visiting his parents." I interrupted. "I'm his cousin Jacinda. He asked me to look after the house for him while he was gone."
"Jacinda?" Chris mouthed over Justin's shoulder, looking incredulous. I shrugged. I was just as surprised at the lie that had emerged from my mouth as he had.
Justin was looking at me with a mixture of suspicion and interest. "JC's cousin, huh? I've never heard of you before."
"Well, we're not really close, but I'm out here for a little while, and he's doing this as a favor to his mother. And well, you know how Karen is." I was amazed at every little thing that was coming out of my mouth. Did I switch thought processes when I changed bodies? I never knew that I could lie so well. Obviously, Chris was surprised too, because he was staring at me, openmouthed.
Justin, however seemed to believe the lie and nodded. "Well, I wanted to talk to him, but I can wait until he comes back." He walked towards the door, but looked back and threw a smile at me, saying, "But Jacinda, if you need some help being shown around town, call me. I'd love to be your guide. I'm number three on the speed dial. See you later, Chris."
I looked at Justin's retreating body in shock. Was he flirting with me? I felt a smile cross my face. Maybe this being a girl thing wouldn't be too bad after all.
However Chris interrupted my thoughts. "Oh, hell no, Jacinda. I know that you're thinking, and no. It's a bad idea." I looked at him, confused and he forged on. "And don't give me that confused, 'Underestimate me' smile, either. You've been crushing on J hard for months now, and you're thinking about using your current predicament to take advantage of that."
I cringed. Damn Chris and his six credits of psychology. Was I that damn easy to read?
"If you go through with this, then what are you going to do when you get back to your original body. Say oops, it completely slipped my mind to tell you that the girl you were sleeping with was really one of your best friends trapped in a girl's body. But now that you know, would you like to have sex anyway?"
"It isn't like he's completely heterosexual." I protested.
Chris shrugged off my weak justification. "Still, it's got all the elements for a disaster. But, hey, I know that I can't talk you out of anything that your stubborn ass has decided on. But when this blows up in your face, I don't want to be implicated. For all I knew, you really were Jayce's cousin Jacinda. And really, couldn't you have picked a better name?"
"Hey, you try lying fifty times in one minute! I'm not Lance. That name was the first thing that came to me."
Chris laughed and then left, wishing me luck. I knew he was right for what he said, but I couldn't help it. Justin saw me as not only a friend, but like a brother. We had grown up together, and I would never break out of that mold. This might be my only chance to be with Justin like I dreamed. I decided to take this chance and hold on to it on those lonely nights when I went back to myself and being Justin's 'buddy'. Steeling my courage, I picked up the phone and dialed.
"Justin, it's Jacinda, JC's cousin. I'm calling to see if the offer to show me around town is still open…."
