Contemporary US soul outfit formed in 1994 by David "Davinch" Chance and Dante "Chi" Jordan. The duo first became aware of each other's musical talents while attending high school in Baltimore, Maryland. Originally members of a vocal quartet, it did not take long for Davinch and Chi to realize that their ticket out of the tough west side of town (known as Dru Hill) was to team together and form a modern soul outfit, similar in style to 90s chart-toppers such as D'Angelo and Maxwell. After a few attempts at creating a worthy demo, the duo eventually signed to Epic Records, and after nearly a year and half in the studio, issued their debut album, Love Crimes, in 2000. The album spawned the number 1 R&B hit, "No More", and the duo went on to headline a few of their own shows, as well as opening for more established artists such as Mary J. Blige. Their second album, Someone To Love You, was released in spring 2002. Sound Files (MP3) No More - from the album Love Crimes |
