Tyrese (b.Tyrese Gibson, December 30 1978, Watts, California) who looks like Joe and sounds like Sisqo, is a highly successful singer, model and actor. Gibson grew up in Los Angeles' tough Watts ghetto, gaining his big break when he starred in a 1995 advertisement for Coca-Cola. RCA Records won the ensuing scramble for Tyrese's signature, and were rewarded when his self-titled 1998 debut album spawned the US pop and R&B hits "Nobody Else", "What Do U Like", "Sweet Lady" and "Lately". A high-profile string of modelling assignments for GUESS? and Tommy Hilfiger followed, as well as acting roles in the hit television series Moesha and John Singleton's 2001 movie, Baby Boy, with Snoop Dogg. His sophomore album, 2000 Watts, employed some of US music's most successful writing and production teams to help create a classy and highly commercial product. In 2002 Tyrese signed with J Records, and later in the year released I Wanna Go There. Four years later he returned with the double-disc Alter Ego, where one side of the CD displays Tyrese's rapping skills.
