Bottom Of The Bottle
(A Poem About Drinking To Cure Depression)

Sitting there thinking about the past and what I’ve done wrong
I take a drink
Thinking about you and what you’ve put me through
I take a drink
Looking down at my stomach and seeing it stick out
I take a drink
Hearing this song and thinking of you
I take a drink
Thinking of the friendships that have gone wrong
I take a drink
Wondering where my life is going and who likes me
I take a drink
Seeing all the happy people in the club dancing with guys
I take a drink
Watching you flirt with the girls on the floor
I take a drink
Thinking of the ways I hurt myself through someone else
I take a drink
My head starting to hurt brings on the ambition to order another
I take a drink
Hearing your voice as you walk by me
I take a drink
Seeing you happy with someone else other than me
I take a drink
Trying to hold back the tears and act happy when we talk
I take a drink
I slowly start realizing that I can’t control my emotions anymore
I take a drink
You ask what’s wrong; all I can do is put my head down and cry
I take a drink
I need to use the bathroom but I can’t walk very straight
I take the drink with me
I realize that I’ve reached the bottom of another bottle
I take the last drink
