Started at Pennybrook Road entrance.   At 1st bend in main road, cut off to Udercliff Path running along Tomlin's Swamp.  Very quiet & peacefull with rock overhang to your right and wetlands to the left.   We cross over numerous streams with the help of planks over them. Approx. 1.2 miles on path until we came to Loop Road heading up to Mt. Gilead (elev. 272') and old steel tower.
Breathtaking view of Boston and area around the woods, they say on a clear day you can see Mt. Monadanock in NH, but haze prevented us from doing so.

Continued on Loop Rd down to Great Woods Rd heading E, turning SSE onto Cooke Rd to Burrill Hill (elev. 285')with it's Stone Tower.   Broke here for lunch and a little rest.   Followed path downhill E to Cornel Path which parallels Breed's Pond on the left.   At Dungeon Rd. looped back to Dungeon Rock Cave.

Started to explore the cave, but after decending stairs discovered that the batteries in Jeff's flashlight were starting to die so we didn't go on.   Oh well, another trip will have to be made to the cave, besides Jim (and others) wants to see it also.

After viewing area around cave where an earthquake split the rock and buried a fellow named Tom (yes, he is still there) continued down to Jackson Path which brought us back to the Pennybrooke entrance.   2 hikes and loving it even more then after the 1st.   Learned that 2 pairs of socks do wonders for comfort.
