There is a strong emphasis in this website on the use of GIS tools. Geographical Information Systems are a method of analyzing spatial data, and its visual tools were crucial in the development of this site.
Lastly, I hope that you enjoy using this site. I have put a lot of time in this because I for one feel that to capture the atmosphere of a battle, the terrain also need be understood, and I hope that my efforts serve this purpose successfully.
Another NoteAll geographical representations on this website were digitized and created by the page designer. Users of this website are not allowed to re-distribute them, claim them as their own, alter them, or use them otherwise without permission.Part of this website was created using the data from the Geographical Survey Institute of Japan, which has topographical maps surveyed in the last two years. Obviously, much has likely changed in terms of the topography of battlefields. Thus, please think of the geographical representations on this site as at best approximations of what the terrain looked like at the time of the battle. Liberties have been taken in depicting some areas of the map; e.g. where a quarry is now located, this area may simply be interpolated based on its surrounding environs. Vertical exaggeration was not used in these geographical representations. Because they use perspective, scale will vary according to the view.
Questions & CommentsPlease contact me if you have something to say! In particular, I am highly interested in keeping this site factually accurate. If you notice that I've written something which doesn't mesh and can back it up, I'm ALL EARS!BibliographyBryant, Anthony. Sekigahara 1600.
