A full view of the area of the Battle of Shizugatake. North is to the upper-left. The dimensions of this view are roughly 10 by 5 kilometers. Lake Yogo, in the center of the view. Hideyoshi's troops were placed around the 2 kilometer long, 13 meter deep lake.

A view from the summit of Shizugatake, looking north. The mountain, being only 421 meters high, is only about 300 meters higher than Lake Yogo and the surrounding plain. Following Hideyoshi's surprise arrival on the scene, however, Sakuma's troops escaped down the mountain onto the the shores of Lake Yogo, where they would fight a desperate and futile battle.

Note in this picture, and also in the first one, the sparcity of flat space surrounding Lake Yogo, which made it an easy space to slaughter troops trying to run away from Hideyoshi.
