Challenge - Make Pacey naked without nookie

Joey plopped down on the couch in her home, throwing her suitcase on the floor next to her. She had just returned from visiting New York with Jen and Jack. All she wanted to do was collapse on her bed.

She was a day early in returning so neither Bessie nor Bodie would really be expecting her. Jen and her parents had gotten into a fight, cutting the trip short.

“Bessie!” she called out. No answer. She walked into the kitchen to find a note on the refrigerator door.

Bodie

Helping Doug with summer cleaning. Will be back later.

Bessie

She shrugged. It wasn’t as if this was the first time Bessie had been “cleaning” with Doug. By her estimate, she did “cleaning” about once or twice a week…

Well, that’s what Bodie gets when he insists on leaving town so much. It’s not as if Bessie and Bodie were married so she had no reason to be faithful to him. It was just funny that Bessie chose her sister’s ex-boyfriend’s supposedly gay brother.

Where was Bodie, anyway? She looked out the window, realizing for the first time that there was no car in the driveway.

Joey grabbed her suitcase and walked down the hall. As she headed to her bedroom, she noticed that all the rooms seemed to be occupied. Crap, what if Bessie had rented her room for the week?

Sure enough, when she reached her bedroom, the door was locked. She pounded on the door. There was no answer.

“Is anyone in there?” she shouted. Still no answer.

Joey headed to the closet, fishing for the key to her room. Thankfully, Bessie had imposed locks on all the doors, as a precautionary measure.

She was unlocking the door to find Pacey singing along to his Walkman while dancing around. He had a towel around his waist and was dripping wet from coming out of the shower.

“You’re the one that I want, you’re the one that I want now, ooh, ooh, ooh” Pacey was singing along to my Grease soundtrack CD. How had he found that anyway?

I whispered, “Pacey?” It was clear that had the music blasting too loud for him to hear anything. I wasn’t sure whether to be laughing at him for doing the dance gestures or pissed off. I hadn’t even known that Pacey was back from his summer job. What the hell was he doing at the B&B anyway?

He hummed the rest of the words, obviously less familiar with the other verses. He took the towel off as he continued singing. It was kind of difficult to think if he actually had remembered any of the other words to that song, what with his butt moving along to the music. Well, of course, his whole body was moving along to the music but that was my focal point.

I knew the song well enough to remember when the song came to the end. I snuck out of the room and quietly closed the door. I rapped on the door.

Pacey shouted, “Give me a minute.”

“Yeah, could figure that he’d need a minute,” Joey mused, closing her eyes to keep the previous image in her mind. Except, he’d be singing some ballad from a boy band and he’d know there was audience of one. That’s right, baby, sing a little of “My Everything” to me.

“Ahem.” I opened my eyes to see him standing there, looking puzzled. He was still buttoning his shirt. “Do you know how strange you appear when you’re daydreaming? Half of your face makes a smile and the other half crinkles slightly downward.”

It was at the same time that we both realized that we weren’t ready to face each other the way our relationship was right now.

He turned apologetic, “I’m sorry about this. I was just buying time until I could deal with my parents.”

“In my room?”

“It was the only vacancy. I was leaving tomorrow when you returned from your trip. I guess I could crash at Doug’s for the night.”

“I guess you should do that.” Pacey retreated into the room. I then remembered Bessie’s note and rushed into the room, “On second thought, you could stay here tonight.”
