Tazz debuted as the Tasmaniac in 1993, in Extreme Championship Wrestling. He started in with a battle with Sabu, which would lead to a dozen more battles and the biggest fued in ECW history. At this point, he had dreadlocks and wore facepaint. Tasmanic changes his name to Taz, and eventually captures the ECW Television Championship, and makes "The Franchise" Shane Douglas tap out to capture the World Title.
Tazz signed a contract with the WWF in November 1999 and was set
to debut at the 2000 Royal Rumble. That night, Kurt Angle was
booked to face a mystery opponent in the sold out Madison Square
Garden in New York City. In the opening match of the pay per view
after Kurt Angle made his entrance the arena became orange. The
fans then knew Tazz has come. Tazz cam out with a standing ovation
in front of his home town. Tazz got the victory by choking out Kurt
Angle.
Tazz, during a battle royal for the Hardcore Championship at Wrestlemania 2000, won the Hardcore Title three times and lost it in the same night. He battled with Angle on a few more occassions, and even went head to head with the WWF Champion, Triple H. He lost that match when former ECW teammate, Tommy Dreamer popped up and accidently hit Tazz with a chair.
Tazz has been nursing an injury, but is soon set to come back into action again. His battles will surely be many, and Tazz will have to prove himself in the World Wrestling Federation to obtain Championship gold, but if anyone has the strength and determination it is the "human suplex machine" Tazz. And if you don't like him you can do two things...."nothing, and like it!"
And during one of his weekends off from WWF, Tazz appeared back in ECW and defeated the champion at the time, Mike Awesome and brought the ECW Heavyweight Belt back with him to the World Wrestling Federation. He lost the belt a few months later to Tommy Dreamer.
