No 2404 Private S.J.Sando, 48th Batt., late 32nd Batt

In regard to your enquiry through this bureau concerning the telegram received by you, reporting Private Sando Killed in action 12th August, we communicated with the military authorities at Keswick, and they informed us that the number and battalion given thereon are telegraphic errors, and should read No. "2404" and late "32nd" Battalion. We regret to have to inform you, therefore, that the information, no doubt, refers to this soldier.

May we take this opportunity of extending to you our deepest sympathy in your loss.

                           Yours faithfully.
                                Honorable Secretary

P.S. We enclosed herewith telegram referred to above.
