Physical Description -- Sylvain is tall for his age, with a slim build. His eyes are an intense, distant-looking green and his hair hangs fine and straight. It is a very dark red (like blood). He is an attractive boy, but his features are cold and sharp.

Personality -- Quiet and brooding by nature, Sylvain can soften his serious demeanor when he smiles. But smiling he something he rarely does, unless it is at someone else's expense. His gestures are usually quite delicate, with many subtle movements of the eyes and brow often taking precedent over an actual reaction. He is immensely proud of his taste and refinement, and will let that be known. Outwardly, he looks down at most of his peers, including feelow Slytherins. But inside, Sylvain is quite a troubled young man.

History -- The only son of the heir to the Wraithwaite family fortune, Sylvain is grandchild of the venerable Agamemnon Wraithwaite and his wife Agnetha Thackmorton-Wraithwaite. The Wraithwaites are a powerful wizarding clan, living in luxury in a sizeable country estate. The Wraithwaite fortune and reputation managed to remain intact throughout the dark years of Voldemort's reign of terror. With power, influence, rooms full of dubious magical artifacts, and a very vocal distaste of muggles and 'tainted' bloodlines, it looked like it would be easy to brand the Wraithwaites as loyal Death Eaters. But the evidence remained thin, despite the rumours of their generous backing of Voldemot during the height of his power.

Sylvain never knew his mother. She died when he was very young. Sylvain's closest childhood friends were other pure-blooded children., but he tended to find their company tiresome. Secretly, Sylvain was quite close with one of his family's servants, a house elf named Pippa. But once that friendship was discovered, his grandparents made sure that such fraternizing ceased. Sylvain remained quite insular, often devoting more and more time to pursuing his own interests and cultivating his own tastes. Sylvain was not very close to his father, Trolius - a cold, mean-spirited man. The only family member for whom Sylvain has much affection is his uncle Thackery, whom he sees only rarely given to the fact that Thakcery has spent the past 10 years studying and living with nomadic Mongolian shamans.

Sylvain's time at Hogwarts has been rather non-eventful. While his early years were spent very much as a typical Slytherin, he grew increasingly distant from the snickering horde of his peers. But few of his housemates could fail to notice a marked change at the beginning of Sylvain's fourth year. He came back from a summer at home much changed - he was much colder and quieter, and he seemed to look at the world differently. When he did speak up, Sylvain would make more attacks on the character of his own housemates. Most thought it was strange to begin with, but soon grew accustomed to it, even relishing the stabbing comments that would slip from Sylvain's tongue - he had learned how to mask insult as compliment. Many wanted to know what happened, but none dared ask. If they had, Sylvain certainly would not have told them what had happened - what that muggle had done to him!

Since then, Sylvain has remained very much in the background, usually overshadowed by his more boisterous, flamboyant Slytherin peers. The one house-mate in whom he can confide is Caliope Murdoch. But even that is not what you would call a close friendship.

Pet -- Hakuma, a Japanese fox of pale, almost ghostly, orange. He is swift, elusive, and extremely intelligent. He is very loyal to Sylvain, but does not behave as a typical pet. He expects a certain degree of respect from Sylvain. Sylvain and his uncle found Hakuma for sale in a specialty shop in Knockturn Alley. He was expensive, but Sylvain knew he was special.
