Mary and Samuel had two miscarriages before their first child (Mary Gertrude Davis) was born. Mary's personality was much like that of her maternal grandfather Jean Baptise Boucard who was very stoic. Mary enjoyed quilting. When her eyesight began to fail, her daughter Leona Lucille Davis would thread Many needles for Mary before leaving for school in the morning.
Mary died at the home of her daughter Ada Davis Leonard.
Mary married Samuel Henry Davis, son of Milton Reese Davis and Mary (Polly) Penrod, on 28 Dec 1890 in Frenchtown, Indiana.1 (Samuel Henry Davis was born on 7 Jul 1857 in Clark County, Indiana,5 6 7 8 9 10 died on 5 May 1915 in Johnston City, Williamson County, Illinois and was buried on 7 May 1915 in Johnston City, Williamson County, Illinois 1.)
