The chaplet of the Immaculate Conception, consists of three decades of four beads on each decade, separated by a large bead between each decade and the medal of the Immaculate Conception at the end. Composed by St. John Berchmanns, S.J. The chaplet was recited daily to obtain the grace never to commit any sin against the virtue of purity, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The chaplet begins by the self-blessing of making the sign of the cross and saying "In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." Each decade of the chaplet is recited in the same manner: Recite "Blessed be the Holy and Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary." Followed by one Our Father, four Hail Mary's and one Glory Be to the Father. |
