EWTN Global Catholic Network - - - EWTN is committed to spreading the Gospel from a Catholic perspective to millions via television, radio, and the Internet. EWTN was founded by Mother M. Angelica, and began airing programs on August 15, 1981 from their site at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Irondale, AL. Mother Angelica is the Foundress and Abbess of the Monastery, an autonomous Monastery of Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration erected in 1962. I visited here in the spring of 2000, I was fortunate to be able to attend a live broadcast of “Mother Angelica Live” and after the taping had the pleasure to met and talk with Mother. She is a beautiful, warm, loving, full of life woman and love of the Lord pours forth. Mother and the Poor Claire sisters moved to their new home in November, 1999. It is a beautiful new Church and Monastery constructed after a 13th century, Monastery dedicated to the Love of Jesus thru Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist. I also visited here and it was a breathtaking experience. If you are going thru Alabama on Interstate 65, look for exit 292 and pay a visit and receiving a great blessing. Also visit the Monastery in Irondale, which is now the home of the Franciscan Priests and Brothers.
Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - - - Located in Washington D.C., once you visit the site, you will want to visit the Basilica. My husband and I visited the Basilica and both can truly say that it is a breathtaking experience.
